Ich will gar nicht lange in Sachen Valentinstag herumschwafeln, schließlich lasse ich „Valentine“ immer ausfallen. Aber er steht nun mal vor der Tür und hier habe ich einen schönen Tipp für euch. Solche kleinen Geschenke, Überraschungen und schönen Schmuckstücke gehen natürlich nicht nur zum Valentinstag, sondern auch zum Geburtstag, zu Weihnachten oder einfach mal zwischendurch, aber heute möchte ich euch auch an den Valentinstag erinnern.

Ich habe hier auf dem Blog ja schon öfter über den Schmuck meiner Freundin Alex Feinwerk geschrieben. Man kann zum Beispiel einer Freundin, die weiter weg wohnt, oder der Mutter einfach online etwas Schönes aussuchen und direkt dorthin schicken lassen. Gerade kleine Onlineshops wie der von Alex Feinwerk machen das oft mit viel Liebe. Wenn man eine kleine Notiz dazuschreibt, dass es eine Überraschung ist, wird es meistens besonders schön verpackt. Und dann bekommt man von der Freundin im besten Fall einen ganz aufgeregten Anruf mit Quietschen und Kreischen. Ich liebe das ❤️.

Das ist eine schöne Möglichkeit, etwas zu verschenken, insbesondere, wenn man nicht einfach mit Blumen vor der Tür stehen kann. Und manchmal braucht es ja gar keinen großen Anlass. Ein kleines Freundschaftsarmband ist auch einfach eine schöne Idee. Dann tragen beide das gleiche Armband und der andere weiß: Da hat jemand an mich gedacht.

I do not want to ramble on about Valentine’s Day for too long, especially since I always skip “Valentine”. But it is just around the corner, and I have a lovely little tip for you. Small gifts, surprises and beautiful pieces of jewelry like these are of course not only lovely for Valentine’s Day, but also for birthdays, Christmas or simply just because. But today, I would like to remind you of Valentine’s Day.

Urlaub ist einfach eine herrliche Angelegenheit. Wir verbringen unsere Tage auf Madeira sehr gechillt. Wir entdecken die Insel, wandern oder vertreiben uns die Zeit in Funchal. Alles ganz entspannt. Meine gesammelten Madeira-Reisetipps findet ihr übrigens in diesem Beitrag.

Da das Wetter hier auf Madeira zurzeit ungewöhnlich gut ist – normalerweise regnet es auf Madeira sehr häufig – verbringe ich auch einige Zeit auf der Terrasse unseres Hotels. Das The Vine Hotel in Funchal hat nämlich eine tolle Rooftop-Terrasse mit zwei kleinen Infinity-Pools, einer Bar und einem Restaurant. Von der Terrasse hat man einen mega Blick auf das Meer und die Stadt. Die Terrasse empfehle ich übrigens auch Nicht-Hotelgästen für einen Kaffee oder Cocktail.

Und weil ich meine Alex Feinwerk Tortuga Arm- und Fußbändchen seit dem Sommer ständig mit dabei habe, waren sie natürlich auch mit auf dem Rooftop.

Die herrlichen Temperaturen hier sind außerdem perfekt, um seinen Sommerlieblingen eine kleine Pause vom Winter zu geben. Schon den ganzen Sommer über und auch hier immer mit dabei sind meine Sommerlieblinge von Alex Feinwerk. Diese Lieblingsstücke, die ich euch schon so lange mal richtig zeigen wollte, sind meine süßen Turtles von Alex Feinwerk aus der Tortuga-Serie.

Ich habe ein Armband und passend dazu ein Fußkettchen in meiner Lieblingsfarbe Türkis. Als ich Alex im letzten Jahr persönlich getroffen habe, hat mein Turtle zusätzlich noch eine ozeanische Freundin bekommen, die Alex mir geschenkt hat: eine Kauri. Kauris sind ein bisschen wie Pompons bei mir – die dürfen eigentlich überall dran sein.

Vacation is simply a wonderful thing. We are spending our days on Madeira very relaxed. We explore the island, go hiking or just pass the time in Funchal. Everything is easy and calm. You can find my collected Madeira travel tips in this post.

Since the weather here on Madeira is unusually good at the moment – normally it rains quite often on Madeira – I also spend some time on the terrace of our hotel. The Vine Hotel in Funchal has a beautiful rooftop terrace with two small infinity pools, a bar and a restaurant. From the terrace, you have an amazing view of the sea and the city. By the way, I also recommend the terrace to non-hotel guests for a coffee or a cocktail.

And because I have had my Alex Feinwerk Tortuga bracelet and anklet with me constantly since summer, they obviously had to come with me to the rooftop.

The lovely temperatures here are also perfect for giving your summer favorites a little break from winter. All summer long, and here as well, my summer favorites from Alex Feinwerk have been with me. These favorite pieces, which I have been wanting to properly show you for so long, are my sweet little Turtles by Alex Feinwerk from the Tortuga collection.

I have a bracelet and a matching anklet in my favorite color, turquoise. When I met Alex in person last year, my Turtle also got an ocean-inspired friend that Alex gifted to me: a cowrie shell. Cowrie shells are a bit like pom-poms for me – they can basically go on anything.

Was kauft der Tourist in Saint-Tropez? Genau: Designermode, Luxushandtaschen und Souvenirs. Oder Bambus Strohhalme, so wie ich.
Bei unserem letzten Besuch in Saint-Tropez bin ich auf dem Markt über diese praktischen Bambus Strohhalme gestolpert und habe sie direkt mitgenommen. Ich wollte mir schon länger ein paar zulegen, weil sie so stylisch aussehen und ich sie auch wirklich praktisch finde. Selbstverständlich auch wegen der Nachhaltigkeit und so.
Außerdem sind sie so stabil, dass man damit getrost eine halbe Nacht lang in seinem Cocktail herumrühren kann. Papierstrohhalme vertragen das ja eher nicht so gut.

Aber zurück nach Saint-Tropez: Am gleichen Tag waren wir mit Freunden am Strand zum Lunch und kamen auf das Thema plastikfreie Trinkhalme. Allerdings nicht wegen meiner zuvor ergatterten Bambus Strohhalme, sondern weil wir unsere Getränke statt mit einem Strohhalm mit einer Makkaroni serviert bekommen hatten. Wir fanden das witzig und so genial einfach, zumal wir das alle aus unserer Kindheit kannten. Also falls man mal eine Party schmeißt und viele Trinkhalme benötigt, ist die Makkaroni-Trinkhalm-Nummer definitiv ein Tipp.

Für den stylischen Cocktail mit Freunden oder für die Trink-Kokosnuss aus dem Bioladen sind Bambus Strohhalme allerdings ziemlich perfekt. Oder wie seht ihr das?
Wenn ich die Fotos sehe, könnte ich jeden Morgen eine Kokosnuss mit Bambus Strohhalm und Blümchen schlürfen. Karibik-Feeling für daheim.
Mittlerweile benutze ich im Alltag auch sehr gerne Glasstrohhalme. Die sehen ebenfalls schön aus und dürfen bei mir einfach in die Spülmaschine. Für jeden Tag sind sie deshalb fast noch praktischer.

What does a tourist buy in Saint-Tropez? Exactly: designer fashion, luxury handbags and souvenirs. Or bamboo straws, like me.
During our last visit to Saint-Tropez, I stumbled upon these practical bamboo straws at the market and took them with me straight away. I had wanted to buy a few for quite a while, because they look so stylish and I also find them really practical. Of course, also because of sustainability and so on.
They are also so sturdy that you can easily stir around in your cocktail with them for half the night. Paper straws do not really cope with that very well.

But back to Saint-Tropez: On the same day, we had lunch at the beach with friends and started talking about plastic-free straws. Not because of the bamboo straws I had just found, but because our drinks were served with a piece of macaroni instead of a straw. We thought that was funny and brilliantly simple, especially because we all knew it from our childhood. So, if you ever throw a party and need a lot of straws, the macaroni straw idea is definitely a tip.

For a stylish cocktail with friends or a drinking coconut from the organic supermarket, bamboo straws are pretty perfect. Or what do you think?
When I look at the photos, I could sip a coconut with a bamboo straw and a little flower every morning. Caribbean feeling at home.
By now, I also like using glass straws in everyday life. They look beautiful as well and, in my house, they simply go into the dishwasher. For every day, they are therefore almost even more practical.

Lily of the Valley Saint-Tropez klingt erst einmal nach Saint-Tropez. Tatsächlich liegt das Hotel aber nicht direkt in Saint-Tropez, sondern bei La Croix-Valmer, in der Nähe der Strände Plage de Gigaro. Je nach Verkehr ist man von Saint-Tropez aus auch schon mal 20 Minuten unterwegs.
Was der Schönheit des Ortes allerdings keinen Abbruch tut.

Ich war nicht als Hotelgast dort, sondern zum Lunch und habe nur den Bereich besucht, den man auch als Nicht-Hotelgast besuchen kann. Vor allem das Restaurant Vista, die Terrasse und die wunderschönen offenen Bereiche mit Blick Richtung Meer. Das Hotel ist wirklich unglaublich schön, und ich meine, mal gelesen zu haben, dass es von Philippe Starck eingerichtet wurde.

Und ich weiß, man macht in der Mittagssonne keine Fotos. Das ist quasi ein No-Go der Fotografie. Fotos in der Mittagssonne werden ja auch tatsächlich nicht besonders schön. Aber wenn man zum Lunch an einem mega coolen Hotspot ist, dann muss man Fotos machen. Egal wie die Lichtverhältnisse sind. In diesen Fällen gilt eine Ausnahmeregelung, welche lautet: Pfeif auf die Sonne und geh ja nicht ohne Fotos heim! Diese Ausnahmeregel stammt übrigens von mir und darf gerne von jedermann übernommen werden.

Mittlerweile wurde das Konzept des Lily of the Valley weiterentwickelt. Das Hotel beschreibt sich selbst als 5-Sterne-Luxushotel für Wellness, Sport und Wohlbefinden. Es gibt inzwischen unter anderem den Shape Club, Restaurants und auch einen Beach Club am Plage de Gigaro. Das Restaurant, das ich damals besucht habe, heißt Vista und liegt wunderschön am Hang mit Blick auf das Mittelmeer. Und die Einrichtung ist großartig.

Ich habe also auf die Sonne gepfiffen, bin mit großartiger Fotobeute heimgefahren und habe für euch die schönsten Impressionen in diesem Post zusammengestellt.

Übrigens habe ich an diesem Tag und an diesem Ort Alex Feinwerk zum ersten Mal persönlich getroffen. Wir kannten uns bis dahin nur über Instagram. Und dass ich den Schmuck von Alex Feinwerk ganz besonders liebe, ist ja kein Geheimnis. Es gibt etliche Beiträge damit auf meinem Blog, und diesen liebe ich ganz besonders.

Lily of the Valley Saint-Tropez sounds, at first, as if it were directly in Saint-Tropez. In fact, the hotel is not located directly in Saint-Tropez, but near La Croix-Valmer, close to the beaches of Plage de Gigaro. Depending on traffic, it can easily take about 20 minutes from Saint-Tropez.

The hotel really is incredibly beautiful, and I think I once read that it was designed by Philippe Starck.

And I know, you are not supposed to take photos in the midday sun. It is basically a photography no-go. Photos taken in the midday sun really do not turn out particularly beautiful. But when you are having lunch at a seriously cool hotspot, you have to take photos. No matter what the light is doing. In these cases, there is an exception rule, which says: forget the sun and do not go home without photos! This exception rule is from me, by the way, and everyone is very welcome to adopt it.

By now, the concept of Lily of the Valley has been developed further. The hotel describes itself as a 5-star luxury hotel dedicated to wellness, sport and wellbeing. Today, there is also the Shape Club, restaurants and a Beach Club at Plage de Gigaro. The restaurant I visited back then is called Vista and is beautifully located on the hillside with a view of the Mediterranean. And the interior is gorgeous.

So I ignored the sun, went home with a wonderful photo haul and collected the most beautiful impressions for you in this post.

By the way, this was also the day and the place where I met Alex Feinwerk in person for the first time. Until then, we had only known each other from Instagram. And that I especially love Alex Feinwerk’s jewelry is certainly no secret. There are quite a few posts with her jewelry on my blog, and I especially love this one.

Das vierte Zwischenziel unserer Reise war Merzouga, ein kleiner Wüstenort zu Füßen der Dünenlandschaft Erg Chebbi. Die Auberge du Sud Merzouga liegt direkt an dieser beeindruckenden Dünenlandschaft und war für uns wieder ein ganz besonderer Stopp auf unserem Marokko Roadtrip.

Auch dort waren wir schon einmal – meine Lieblingsbilder von damals findet ihr in meinem Beitrag über unseren Marokko Roadtrip. Die klassische Touristen-Kamel-Trekking-Tour mit Übernachtung im Wüstencamp haben wir wohlweislich ausgelassen. Die Temperaturen fallen in der Region nachts im Winter nämlich auf null Grad. Das ist uns viel zu kalt. Unterwegs haben wir massenhaft kranke Urlauber getroffen, die sich in den Camps erkältet hatten. Aber wie schon in einem anderen Post erwähnt: Die nächste Marokko-Winterreise mache ich mit Wärmflasche oder kleiner Heizdecke im Gepäck.

Elefant Love in der Wüste

Wie ihr sehen könnt, hatte ich mein süßes Elefantenarmband von Alex Feinwerk mit dabei. In die Wüste gehören natürlich eigentlich Kamele und keine Elefanten, aber mein kleiner Elefant war nun mal den ganzen Urlaub bei mir. Außerdem fand ich den Gedanken einfach zu gut, meine Freundin mit „ein Elefant in der Wüste“-Bildern vollzuspammen. Die Bilder habe ich gemacht – aber die Internetverbindung in der Wüste via Satellit war leider zu schlecht, um sie so richtig vollzuspammen. Deshalb müsst ihr euch jetzt die Bilder anschauen.

Auberge du Sud Merzouga

Da ich immer wieder nach dem Hotel gefragt wurde, will ich etwas genauer darauf eingehen. Das Hotel besteht aus mehreren Komplexen: einem Gästehaus im Hauptgebäude, einem Camp mit Zelten in den Dünen gegenüber des Hauptgebäudes, einem weiteren Bereich mit Gästehäusern im Riad-Style und natürlich dem obligatorischen Wüstencamp.

Auf unserem letzten Trip haben wir im Hauptgebäude gewohnt, was uns sehr gut gefallen hat, weil man mitten im Geschehen ist. Auf dieser Reise haben wir unbewusst den Riad-Style gebucht. Die Zimmer sind zwar hochwertiger eingerichtet, aber das Gebäude und die kleinen Gästehäuser liegen ein wenig abseits. Ich würde sagen: Dort zu wohnen ist nicht ganz so kommunikativ, aber schön. Reine Geschmackssache.

Das Lagerfeuer am Abend ist für alle Gäste gleichermaßen, und zu Abend essen auch alle gemeinsam im Hauptgebäude oder im Sommer draußen am Pool. Nach dem Essen wird quasi im Berber-Style Musik gemacht, was allerdings sehr locker ist und keine einstudierte touristische Vorführung. Dabei können sehr fröhliche Abende entstehen, wie wir selbst schon erlebt haben.

The fourth stop on our trip was Merzouga, a small desert village at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Auberge du Sud Merzouga is located right by this impressive dune landscape and was once again a very special stop on our Morocco road trip.

We had already been there before – you can find my favorite photos from that trip in my post about our Morocco road trip. We wisely skipped the classic tourist camel trekking tour with an overnight stay in a desert camp. In winter, temperatures in this region drop to zero degrees at night. That is far too cold for us. Along the way, we met masses of sick travelers who had caught colds in the camps. But as already mentioned in another post: For my next winter trip to Morocco, I will pack a hot water bottle or a small heated blanket.

Elephant Love in the Desert

As you can see, I had my sweet elephant bracelet from Alex Feinwerk with me. Of course, camels belong in the desert rather than elephants, but my little elephant happened to be with me for the whole trip. Besides, I simply liked the idea of spamming my friend with “an elephant in the desert” pictures far too much. I did take the photos – but the satellite internet connection in the desert was unfortunately too bad to properly spam her with them. So now you have to look at the pictures instead.

Since I am often asked about the hotel, I want to go into a little more detail. The hotel consists of several complexes: a guesthouse in the main building, a camp with tents in the dunes opposite the main building, another area with guesthouses in riad style and, of course, the obligatory desert camp.

On our last trip, we stayed in the main building, which we really liked because you are right in the middle of everything. On this trip, we unknowingly booked the riad-style area. The rooms are furnished to a higher standard, but the building and the small guesthouses are a little further away. I would say: staying there is not quite as communicative, but beautiful. Purely a matter of taste.

The evening campfire is for all guests, and everyone also has dinner together in the main building or, in summer, outside by the pool. After dinner, music is played in Berber style, although it is very relaxed and not a rehearsed tourist performance. This can lead to very cheerful evenings, as we have already experienced ourselves.
