Aguamadera Ibiza – Einzigartige Agrotourismus Finca

Das Aguamadera Ibiza ist ein Agrotourismus-Hotel der besonderen Art – gelegen auf einem Hügel, umgeben von Wald, auf 11 Hektar Land. Die beiden Betreiber setzen auf Respekt, Stille, Privatsphäre und kreative Aktivitäten. Einer der Betreiber ist übrigens Iria Urgell Calderón, die Tochter des Pacha-Gründers.

Wir waren in der Vorsaison im Aguamadera Ibiza und hatten eine fantastische Zeit. Die Anlage des Aguamadera Ibiza Agrotourismus-Hotels  ist einfach wunderschön, und es steckt so viel Liebe im Detail. Die Einrichtung des Hotels würde ich als minimalistischen Finca-Style bezeichnen. Und trotz der minimalistischen Einrichtung sorgen die verwendeten Naturmaterialien, die vielen gemauerten Bänke mit den unzähligen Kissen und die warmen Erdtöne für Gemütlichkeit. Wer einen Agrotourismus auf Ibiza sucht, der wirklich Ruhe bietet, ist hier genau richtig.

Gemütlichkeit im minimalistischen Stil: Die Finca-Zimmer und Suiten im Aguamadera

Ich habe zwar wie immer zwei Millionen Fotos gemacht, aber anscheinend kein einziges Bild von unserem Zimmer, dabei war es wunderschön. Vermutlich habe ich meine 17 Koffer abgestellt, wir waren schließlich auf Ibiza, habe sie aufgerissen, tausend Kleidungsstücke im Zimmer verteilt, mich auf das Bett geworfen, mit der Matratze gekuschelt und das war es dann mit fotogenem, stylischem Zimmer. Tja, so bin ich: Instagram & Co. haben keinen Vorrang bei mir und der Algorithmus kann nichts dagegen tun. Ich genieße leckeres Essen ohne Foto, dafür aber heiß und auch meine Cocktails schlürfe ich lieber eiskalt und ratet: dafür ohne Foto.
Was ich unbedingt noch erwähnen möchte: In den Zimmern gab es, im Zimmerpreis enthalten, reichlich Wasser und auf der Minibar waren liebevoll verschiedene Kräutertees aus dem hauseigenen Garten arrangiert. Für die Zubereitung des Tees gab es eine wunderschöne Teekanne.

Frühstück und Küche: Köstliches aus dem hauseigenen Garten

Das Frühstück wurde à la carte in einem großen Restaurant-Bereich des Aguamadera Ibiza Agrotourismus serviert, in dem es einen gigantischen Kamin gibt, der in der Vorsaison gut beheizt wurde. Das war sehr gemütlich. Zum Frühstück gab es beispielsweise Pancakes, Eier, Granola mit einem köstlichen Kokos-Joghurt, frisches Obst und natürlich auch Brot und Marmelade. Gekocht wird im Aguamadera übrigens in einer offenen Küche über einem Feuer. In die Kellnerin vom Frühstück war ich heimlich ein bisschen verliebt 🤎☕️. Sie war so aufmerksam und nett und hat den besten Kaffee überhaupt gemacht. Ich hätte sie glatt mitnehmen können. Außerdem war ich auch in die Pancakes verliebt. Der Koch war sogar so nett, mir das Rezept zu geben. Die Pancakes muss ich unbedingt mal machen. Am besten mit Sandra. (Ihr wisst ja, wie das läuft: Sandra macht die Pancakes und ich versuche, nicht im Weg zu stehen. 🤣 Wer neu hier ist, kann gerne Genaueres dazu hier nachlesen.)

Pool und Entspannung: Ruheoase im Agrotourismus-Hotel auf Ibiza

Die Pool-Area sieht genauso einladend aus wie alles andere im Hotel. Es gibt ultrabequeme „Sitzsackliegen“, von denen man gar nicht wieder aufstehen möchte. Leider hatten wir nicht so gutes Wetter, sodass ich kaum Zeit am Pool verbringen konnte, aber die Zeit, die ich dort verbracht habe, war herrlich.

Restaurant im Aguamadera: Regionale und saisonale Holzfeuerküche

Ab 19:30 Uhr ist das Hotel auch für Restaurant-Besucher von außerhalb zugänglich, aber bis 19:30 Uhr gehört das Hotel der Ruhe wegen ganz seinen Gästen. Wir waren einige Male zum Abendessen im Restaurant und fanden es immer fantastisch. Ich erinnere mich an köstliche Muscheln, die ich hatte, ihr wisst ja – ohne Foto, aber dafür heiß gegessen.
Die Betreiber beschreiben die Küche des Restaurants übrigens so: „Regionale Zutaten, wilde Aromen und die besten saisonalen Rohstoffe verbinden sich zu einer bodenständigen, feurigen Küche.“

Anfahrt zum Hotel

Einzig die Straße zum Hotel ist etwas tricky. Es handelt sich dabei um eine Schotterpiste, die ich in einem Sportwagen nicht befahren würde. Durch starke Regenfälle im Winter hatte die Piste wohl stark gelitten.

The Aguamadera Ibiza is a very special agrotourism hotel – situated on a hill, surrounded by forest, on 11 hectares of land. The two owners focus on respect, tranquility, privacy and creative activities. One of them is Iria Urgell Calderón, daughter of the Pacha founder – just saying.

We visited the Aguamadera Ibiza in the pre-season and had an absolutely fantastic time. The property is simply beautiful and there is so much love in every little detail. I would describe the interior as minimalist finca-style – and yet, despite the minimalism, the natural materials, the many built-in benches with countless cushions and the warm earthy tones make it feel incredibly cosy. If you’re looking for an agrotourism retreat on Ibiza that truly delivers peace and quiet, this is the place.

Cosy Minimalism: The Rooms and Suites at Aguamadera

As usual I took about two million photos – but apparently not a single one of our room, which was absolutely beautiful. I probably put down my 17 suitcases (we were on Ibiza, after all), ripped them open, distributed a thousand items of clothing across the room, threw myself onto the bed, cuddled with the mattress and that was the end of any photogenic, stylish room situation. That’s just how I am: Instagram and the algorithm have no say in my life. I enjoy good food without taking a photo – but at least while it’s still hot. Same goes for cocktails: ice cold, no photo.

One thing I definitely want to mention: the rooms came with plenty of complimentary water and the minibar was lovingly stocked with various herbal teas from the hotel’s own garden. And there was a beautiful teapot to go with them.

Breakfast and Kitchen: Delicious Produce from the Garden

Breakfast was served à la carte in a large restaurant area with a gigantic fireplace, which was very much in use during the pre-season. Very cosy. The breakfast menu included pancakes, eggs, granola with a delicious coconut yoghurt, fresh fruit and of course bread and jam. Cooking at the Aguamadera is done in an open kitchen over an open fire. I was secretly a little bit in love with the breakfast waitress 🤎☕️. She was so attentive and kind and made the best coffee I’ve ever had. I could have easily taken her home with me. I was also very much in love with the pancakes. The chef was even kind enough to share the recipe with me. I absolutely have to make them sometime – best with Sandra. (You know how it goes: Sandra makes the pancakes and I try not to get in the way. 🤣 If you’re new here, you can read all about that here.)

Pool and Relaxation: A Peaceful Retreat

The pool area looks just as inviting as everything else at the hotel. There are ultra-comfortable beanbag loungers that you simply never want to get up from. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side, so I barely got to spend time at the pool – but the time I did spend there was lovely.

Restaurant at the Aguamadera: Regional and Seasonal Open-Fire Cooking

From 7:30 pm the hotel opens its restaurant to outside guests, but until then the entire property belongs exclusively to its guests – all in the name of peace and quiet. We had dinner at the restaurant several times and it was fantastic every single time. I remember some delicious mussels – no photo, obviously, but eaten properly hot.

The owners describe their kitchen like this: „Regional ingredients, wild flavours and the finest seasonal produce come together in a down-to-earth, fiery cuisine.“

Getting There

The only slightly tricky part is the road leading to the hotel. It’s an unpaved track that I would not attempt in a sports car. Heavy winter rainfall had clearly taken its toll on the surface.

Wir waren über Silvester mal wieder auf Fuerteventura und ich habe euch noch längst nicht von allen Naturschauplätzen berichtet, die wir bisher dort besucht haben. Diesmal beispielsweise berichte ich euch von einem Barranco, den wir erobert haben.
Wenn ihr auf Fuerteventura unterwegs seid, lohnt sich übrigens auch ein Abstecher zum Popcorn Beach – ein ganz anderer, aber ebenso besonderer Ort, über den ich hier geschrieben habe.

Barrancos sind laut Internet Erosionsrisse. Die Geografie-Interessierten von euch können das gerne mal alles ganz genau nachlesen. Ich begnüge mich damit, euch zu sagen, dass es sich bei dem Barranco, den wir besucht haben, um einen Erosionsriss in einem Trockengebiet handelt.
Es gibt einige davon auf den Kanarischen Inseln und auch mehrere auf Fuerteventura. Manche sind groß, weitläufig und spektakulär und andere wiederum klein.

Dieser Barranco auf Fuerteventura ist ein wunderschöner Naturschauplatz und liegt im Norden der Insel und ist recht leicht zu finden. Der Boden, der zu dem Riss führt, ist vollkommen mit kleinen Schneckenhäusern übersät. Das Gestein in dem Riss selbst ist sehr locker und rutscht recht leicht ab. Also nichts, um darauf herumzuklettern.

Wir waren vollständig alleine dort, was bedeutet, dass dieser Ort bisher noch nicht zu den „Instagram-Hotspots“ gehört. Deshalb habe ich auch entschieden, keine genaue Ortsangabe zu machen.
Wer diese Erosionsrisse finden will, der findet sie wirklich ganz leicht, aber ein bisschen Anstrengung kann ja nicht schaden. Vielleicht bleiben solche Naturschauplätze so länger erhalten.

We spent New Year’s Eve on Fuerteventura again, and I still haven’t told you about all the natural spots we’ve visited there so far. This time, for example, I want to show you a barranco we explored.
If you’re traveling around Fuerteventura, it’s also worth stopping by Popcorn Beach – a completely different but equally special place I’ve written about here.

According to the internet, barrancos are erosion cracks. If you’re interested in geography, feel free to look that up in detail. I’ll just say that the barranco we visited is an erosion formation in a dry landscape.
There are quite a few of them on the Canary Islands, including several on Fuerteventura. Some are large, wide, and quite spectacular, while others are smaller.

This barranco on Fuerteventura is a beautiful natural spot located in the north of the island and is fairly easy to find. The ground leading to the crack is completely covered with small seashells. The rock inside the barranco itself is very loose and tends to crumble easily, so it’s not a place to climb around.

We were completely alone there, which means this place hasn’t turned into one of those “Instagram hotspots” yet. That’s also why I decided not to share the exact location.
If you want to find these erosion formations, you actually can quite easily – but a little effort doesn’t hurt. Maybe places like this will stay preserved a bit longer that way.

Tarifa hat mein Herz erobert. Wie sollte es auch anders sein. Von Tarifa bis Marokko sind es per Boot nur noch 17 km und dieser Umstand hat den Ort geprägt. Ebenso geprägt haben die Surfer Tarifa, denn der Ort ist echter Kite- und Windsurf Hotspot. Es gibt alles, was der Surf-Hipster so braucht. Chillige Beachbars, Restos, Shops wie den von „Tarifa Soul“ und es gibt auch reichlich Auswahl für „Vegan“.

Da man ab Tarifa mit der Fähre in kürzester Zeit in Marokko ist, kann man dort übrigens auch die abgefahrensten Wohnmobile und Wüstentrucks bewundern. Und wer Lust auf einen Tagestrip nach Marokko hat, sollte seinen Reisepass mitnehmen, denn die Schnellfähren ermöglichen Tagestouren nach Tanger.

Und um noch eins obendrauf zu setzten: In Tarifa kann man Wale beobachten. Auch wenn es ganzjährig möglich sein soll, Wale zu beobachten, so soll zwischen Mai und September die beste Zeit für Whale Watching in Tarifa sein. Sieben verschiedene Walarten und natürlich auch Delfine kann man vor Tarifa beobachten, sofern einem das Glück hold ist.
Als wir da waren, hat es geregnet und das Meer sah nicht sehr einladend aus. Ich wäre auf kein Boot gegangen. Mein Vater ist zwar früher zur See gefahren, aber ich gebe zu, dass ich in dieser Hinsicht nicht nach ihm komme. Mein Magen ist schaukeltechnisch nicht sonderlich experimentierfreudig 🤢.

Gewohnt haben wir in dem wunderschönen Hotel „The Riad Tarifa“ (affiliate link), dass ich euch unbedingt ans Herz legen möchte. Das Riad war traumhaft eingerichtet, hat ein Spa und im Sommer auch noch eine Dachterrasse, die während unseres Besuchs leider wegen Regen geschlossen war.
Gefrühstückt haben wir nicht im Hotel, weil wir ein kleines Frühstückslokal namens „Helena’s Kitchen“ entdeckt hatten, wo wir unbedingt noch ein zweites Mal hin wollten. Es war so gut.

Tarifa has conquered my heart. How could it be otherwise. From Tarifa to Morocco it is only 17 km by boat and this circumstance has shaped the place. The surfers have also shaped Tarifa, because the place is a real kite and windsurf hotspot. There is everything the surf hipster needs. Chilly beach bars, restos, stores like the one of „Tarifa Soul“ and there is also plenty of choice for „vegan“.

Since the ferry from Tarifa takes you to Morocco in no time at all, you can also admire the wackiest motorhomes and desert trucks there. And if you feel like a day trip to Morocco, you should take your passport with you, because the fast ferries allow day trips to Tangier.

And to top it off: In Tarifa you can watch whales. Even though it is possible to watch whales all year round, the best time for whale watching in Tarifa is between May and September. Seven different whale species and of course dolphins can be seen in Tarifa, if you are lucky.
When we were there it was raining and the sea didn’t look very inviting. I would not have gone on any boat. My father used to go to sea, but I admit I don’t take after him in that regard. My stomach is not much of an experimenter when it comes to rocking 🤢.

We lived in a beautiful hotel „The Riad Tarifa“(affiliate link) that I would like to recommend to you. The riad was fantastically furnished, has a spa and in the summer even a roof terrace, which was unfortunately closed during our visit because of rain.
We did not have breakfast in the hotel, because we had discovered a small breakfast place called „Helena’s Kitchen“, where we definitely wanted to go a second time. It was so good.

Der Beitrag TARIFA & THE BEAUTIFUL HOTEL „THE RIAD TARIFA“ erschien zuerst auf Zeitgeist Living.

Den Beginn des Jahres 2023 haben wir auf einem Andalusien-Roadtrip verbracht. Jeden Tag in einem anderen Ort, jede Nacht in einem anderen Hotel, dabei habe ich ein paar Tipps für euch gesammelt, die ich gerne mit euch teilen möchte. Gestartet haben wir unsere Tour in Sevilla. Sevilla war auch die einzige Stadt, für die wir etwas mehr Zeit eingeplant hatten.

Wie schön ist bitte Sevilla? Alle wissen es nur ich anscheinend nicht, denn Sevilla ist über Neujahr vor lauter Touristen quasi aus allen Nähten geplatzt.
Schon bei der Buchung eines Zimmers war mir aufgefallen, das die Auswahl nicht mehr besonders groß war und ich hatte mir eingebildet, ich wäre früh dran gewesen. Pustekuchen. Alles was schön war, hatte seinen Preis. Solltet ihr also einen Sevilla-Trip planen, bucht rechtzeitig.
Wir haben am Ende in einem wirklich tollen Apartment mit spektakulärem Blick auf die Kathedrale (affiliate Link) mitten im Zentrum gewohnt. Das Apartment hatte eine riesige Terrasse, auf der es sogar einen kleinen Pool gab. Wirklich toll. Ich habe es euch mal verlinkt.

Sevilla ist geprägt von unglaublich schönen alten Gebäuden, Parks, Palmen und Orangenbäumen. Man kann alle vorstellbaren Attraktionen buchen, die ein Touristenherz höherschlagen lassen: von Kutschfahrten bis hin zu einer herrlich kitschigen Ruderboot-Fahrt am Place de Espagne. Alles mit warten oder Schlange stehen, versteht sich. Einige Museen, wie zum Beispiel den Besuch der Kathedrale kann man online vorbuchen, was ich unbedingt empfehlen würde. Wir waren weder in der Kathedrale noch in einer anderen Sehenswürdigkeit, denn als wir in Sevilla waren, hatten die meisten Sehenswürdigkeiten wegen der Feiertage geschlossen. Aber wir haben die Zeit auch so gut rumbekommen. Ein wirklich toller Zeitvertreib war übrigens der, sich mit Churros vollzustopfen.

We spent the beginning of 2023 on an Andalusia road trip. Every day in a different place, every night in a different hotel, I have collected a few tips for you, which I would like to share with you. We started our tour in Seville. Seville was also the only city for which we had planned a little more time.

How beautiful is Seville? Everyone knows it but me apparently not, because Seville was bursting at the seams with tourists over the New Year.
Already when booking a room, I had noticed that the selection was no longer particularly large and I had imagined that I would have been early. No such luck. Everything that was nice had its price. So if you are planning a trip to Seville, book early.
We ended up staying in a really great apartment with a spectacular view of the cathedral (affiliate link) right in the center. The apartment had a huge terrace where there was even a small pool. Really great. I’ve linked it to you guys.

Seville is characterized by incredibly beautiful old buildings, parks, palm trees and orange trees. You can book every imaginable attraction that makes a tourist’s heart beat faster: from carriage rides to a wonderfully kitschy rowboat ride at Place de Espagne. All with waiting or standing in line, of course. Some museums, such as a visit to the cathedral, can be pre-booked online, which I would definitely recommend. (tickets online on the official website)
We didn’t go to the cathedral or any of the other sights because when we were in Seville, most of the sights were closed for the holidays. But we got the time around just fine. By the way, a really great way to pass the time was to stuff ourselves with churros.

Und last but not least: Man muss – wirklich muss – einmal die Tour raus nach Cofete gemacht haben, wenn man auf Fuerteventura ist. Natur pur.

Cofete liegt auf der schwer zugänglichen Seite der Insel und ist nur über eine Schotterpiste zu erreichen, die mittlerweile aber gut in Schuss ist. Die Strecke führt durch die Berge und ist landschaftlich schon ein Erlebnis für sich. Wie wir gesehen haben, kann man sogar Jeeptouren nach Cofete buchen – die stehen wohl auch bei Kreuzfahrtgästen auf dem Programm.

Aber wie gesagt: Nach Cofete kommt man inzwischen auch mit einem normalen Auto oder Wohnmobil, wenn man vorsichtig fährt.
Wer neugierig ist, wie die Schotterpiste aussieht: Ich habe auf meinem Instagram-Account im Highlight „Fuerteventura“ ein paar Videos dazu gespeichert – sowohl von der Umgebung als auch von der Strecke selbst. Da bekommt man ganz gut ein Gefühl dafür, was einen erwartet 🫶🏻

Der Strand selbst ist riesig, wild und komplett naturbelassen. Die Playa de Cofete zieht sich kilometerlang entlang der Küste und gehört für mich zu den beeindruckendsten Orten auf der Insel. Gleichzeitig sollte man das Meer hier nicht unterschätzen – die Brandung ist stark und es gibt keine Infrastruktur oder Rettungsschwimmer.

Was man außerdem unbedingt im Blick haben sollte: den Sand. Vor allem auf Parkplätzen oder abseits der Straße kann er ganz schön tückisch sein. Auch hier haben wir wieder einige Autos und Wohnmobile gesehen, die sich festgefahren hatten – das passiert schneller, als man denkt. Wer ganz sicher gehen will, packt sich Sandbleche ein. Und wenn man sie selbst nicht braucht, kann man damit im Zweifel anderen aus der Patsche helfen.

Cofete ist auch der Ort, an dem die berühmte Villa Winter steht, die nach Gustav Winter benannt wurde. Um die Villa ranken sich bis heute einige Mythen – unter anderem Geschichten über mögliche Verbindungen zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Gesicherte Beweise dafür gibt es allerdings nicht.
Das Gelände selbst ist mittlerweile umzäunt und kann nicht mehr frei besichtigt werden.

Und wenn man schon einmal in der Gegend ist, sollte man sich unbedingt auch den Leuchtturm anschauen. Die Landschaft dort ist genauso beeindruckend – weit, rau und einfach besonders.

Wer sich auch den Norden der Insel anschauen möchte: Die Dünen von Corralejo sind ein komplett anderes, aber genauso faszinierendes Naturerlebnis – darüber habe ich hier schon einmal geschrieben.

And last but not least: you really have to take the trip out to Cofete at least once when you’re on Fuerteventura. Truly pure nature.

Cofete is located on the more remote side of the island and can only be reached via a gravel road, which is actually in pretty good condition by now. The drive itself leads through the mountains and is already quite an experience. As we noticed, you can even book jeep tours to Cofete – they seem to be quite popular, especially with cruise visitors.

That being said, you can absolutely reach Cofete with a regular car or camper van these days, as long as you drive carefully.

If you’re curious about what the road looks like: I’ve saved a few videos on my Instagram account in the “Fuerteventura” highlight – both of the surrounding landscape and the drive itself. It gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect 🫶🏻

The beach itself is vast, wild, and completely untouched. Playa de Cofete stretches for miles along the coast and is, in my opinion, one of the most impressive places on the island. At the same time, the ocean here shouldn’t be underestimated – the waves are strong, and there’s no infrastructure or lifeguards.

Another thing to keep in mind: the sand. Especially on parking areas or when leaving the main road, it can be quite tricky. We saw several cars and camper vans that had gotten stuck – and it happens faster than you might think. If you want to be on the safe side, bringing sand tracks can be a good idea. And even if you don’t need them yourself, you might be able to help someone else out.

Cofete is also home to the famous Villa Winter, named after Gustav Winter. To this day, a number of myths surround the villa – including stories about possible connections to the end of World War II. However, there is no confirmed evidence for any of these claims. The property is now fenced off and can no longer be freely accessed.

And while you’re in the area, you should definitely also take a look at the lighthouse. The landscape around it is just as impressive – wide, rugged, and truly unique.

Ein weiteres Muss auf Fuerteventura sind die weißen Dünen von Corralejo. Ich hatte früher immer gedacht: ein paar Wanderdünen … aber das Areal ist riesig.
Wenn man ein Stück weiter in die Dünenlandschaft hineinläuft, fühlt man sich fast wie in der Wüste und ist plötzlich ganz für sich. Der Handstand-, Kopfstand-, ich-mach-Yoga-und-hüpfe-Instagram-Mob tobt sich eher in Straßennähe aus. Ein paar Schritte weiter wird es ruhig, weit und irgendwie ganz besonders. Was viele übrigens nicht wissen: Der Sand ist hier nicht einfach Wüstensand, sondern besteht aus feinem, hellem Muschelkalk. Er ist unglaublich weich – fast wie der Sand, den ich aus Marokko kenne – und genau das macht diesen Ort so besonders. Der Kontrast aus weißem Sand, türkisfarbenem Wasser und dunklem Vulkangestein ist wirklich beeindruckend. Und auch wenn Fuerteventura insgesamt viele schöne Strände hat, ist diese Landschaft nochmal etwas ganz Eigenes.

Worauf man unbedingt achten sollte, wenn man mal eben an der Straße hält, um ein paar Bilder zu machen: der Sand kann ganz schön tückisch sein. Wir haben mehrfach Autos gesehen, die sich festgefahren hatten – und das geht schneller, als man denkt.Wir kannten das schon aus der Sahara und waren entsprechend vorsichtig, aber sowohl in Corralejo als auch in Cofete haben sich Autos und Wohnmobile eingegraben – darüber habe ich hier auch schon einmal geschrieben.

Wer Lust auf noch mehr besondere Orte im Norden von Fuerteventura hat, sollte sich übrigens auch unbedingt den Popcorn Beach anschauen – dazu habe ich hier schon einmal etwas geschrieben.

Another must-see on Fuerteventura are the white dunes of Corralejo. I used to think they were just a few drifting dunes… but the area is actually huge.

If you walk a little further into the dunes, it almost feels like being in the desert – suddenly it’s quiet and you’re completely on your own. The handstand-, headstand-, yoga-and-jumping-Instagram crowd tends to stay closer to the road. Just a few steps further in, everything becomes calm, wide, and somehow quite special. What many people don’t know: the sand here isn’t typical desert sand, but consists of fine, light shell limestone. It’s incredibly soft – almost like the sand I know from Morocco – and that’s exactly what makes this place so unique. The contrast between the white sand, turquoise water, and dark volcanic rock is truly impressive. And even though Fuerteventura has many beautiful beaches, this landscape feels completely different.

One thing you should definitely be careful about when stopping along the road for a few photos: the sand can be quite tricky. We saw several cars that had gotten stuck – and it happens faster than you might think. We already knew this from the Sahara and were careful, but both in Corralejo and in Cofete cars and camper vans had dug themselves in – I’ve also written about that here.

Best things in life are free. Das mag euch wie ein ziemlich ausgelutschter Kalenderspruch vorkommen, dennoch ist es eine Tatsache. Auch wenn wir diese Tatsache immer mal wieder durch Instagram und Co. aus den Augen verlieren. Immer mal wieder lassen wir uns dazu hinreißen, auf das zu schauen, was andere Menschen haben oder erleben. Schaut es euch an, freut euch für sie und setzt ruhig was davon auf eure Bucket List, aber vergesst niemals: Best things in life are free und Glück kann man nicht kaufen.

Ein Beispiel: Ein wunderschöner Sonnenuntergang ist definitiv etwas, was uns glücklich macht, zumindest für einen Moment. Einen Sonnenuntergang kann man auf einer Decke am Strand genauso genießen wie einen Sonnenuntergang auf Ibiza in einer Bar, in der man mit Freunden die untergehende Sonne beklatscht. Der Sonnenuntergang auf der Decke, der übrigens for free ist, ist genauso schön und mit dem Liebsten allein vermutlich auch ein bisschen romantischer.

Ich kann euch eins mit Gewissheit sagen, das, was meinen Besuchern am meisten in Erinnerung bleibt, sind die Abende mit einer Decke, Kerze, Wein und Baguette am Strand. Es sind nicht die Abende in den tollen Restaurants, die gefallen auch allen, aber das mit der Decke am Strand ist immer das Highlight.

Auf Fuerteventura waren die Sonnenuntergänge auch ziemlich beeindruckend. Manche haben wir in einer Bar genossen und andere wiederum ohne Decke am Strand. Aber Sundown war quasi Gesetz.

Best things in life are free. That may seem like a rather hackneyed calendar saying to you, but it’s still a fact. Even if we lose sight of this fact every now and then due to Instagram and the like. Every now and then we get carried away looking at what other people have or experience. Look at it, be happy for them and put some of it on your bucket list, but never forget: Best things in life are free and happiness can’t be bought.

For example: a beautiful sunset is definitely something that makes us happy, at least for a moment. You can enjoy a sunset on a blanket on the beach just as much as you can enjoy a sunset in Ibiza in a bar, applauding the setting sun with friends. The sunset on the blanket, which is free by the way, is just as beautiful and probably a bit more romantic with your loved one alone.

I can tell you one thing with certainty, the thing my visitors remember most are the evenings with a blanket, candle, wine and baguette on the beach. It’s not the evenings in the great restaurants, everyone likes those too, but the one with the blanket on the beach is always the highlight.

On Fuerteventura, the sunsets were also pretty impressive. Some we enjoyed in a bar and others again without a blanket on the beach. But Sundown was virtually law.

Der Popcorn Beach heißt nicht so, weil es an diesem Beach das beste Popcorn ever gibt oder weil dort die letzte Popcorn-Bude vor Afrika steht oder weil man statt Fish and Chips, Fish and Popcorn aufgetischt bekommt, nein, der Strand heißt so, weil er voll mit Steinen ist, die wie Popcorn aussehen. Und in Wahrheit sind es auch keine Steine, sondern Kalkalgen.

Der Popcorn-Strand ist so übersät damit, dass man quasi in Popcorn baden oder sich damit bewerfen kann. Das ist allerdings schmerzhaft und auch nicht sonderlich bequem, denn das „Kalkalgen-Popcorn“ ist hart wie Stein. Der Strand in der Nähe von Corralejo ist ein Naturstrand und über eine Schotterpiste zu erreichen.

Und weil die Kalkalgen tatsächlich wie Popcorn aussehen, ist der Strand zu einem echten Instagram-Hotspot geworden und quasi ein Muss auf der Insel.
Man macht also 2000 Fotos mit dem Fake-Popcorn in der Hand und wirft es hoch und liegt darauf und geht darauf und sitzt mit dem Rücken zum Betrachter … Das volle Instagram-Programm halt – total individuell und kreativ. Ich würde so was ja nieeee machen 😂😂🙈.

Gott sei Dank ist der Strand breit und nicht dermaßen überlaufen, dass die Leute Schlange stehen, wie an manchen Instagram-Hotspots dieser Erde. Dennoch, doof wie die Menschen sind, nehmen sie die Steine gerne mit, obwohl überall Schilder darauf hinweisen, dass dies verboten ist. Das Fake-Popcorn wird übrigens am Flughafen beschlagnahmt, für alle, die nicht lesen können oder wollen 🙈🙈.

Übrigens, wenn ihr ohnehin in der Gegend seid, lohnt sich auch noch ein Abstecher zu den weißen Dünen von Corralejo – ebenfalls ein echtes Instagram-Muss auf Fuerteventura (darüber habe ich hier schon einmal geschrieben). Da kann man dann auch direkt weitermachen mit dem vollen Instagram-Programm: in den Dünen hüpfen, springen, Kopfstand, Handstand – total individuell und kreativ halt 😂

PS: Und weil mir das Thema wichtig ist und Fuerteventura insgesamt sehr auf müll- und plastikfreie Strände achtet, habe ich auch dort immer meine Wasserfilterflasche dabei (Affiliate Link). So lässt sich unterwegs ganz einfach Plastik vermeiden.

The Popcorn Beach is not called that because you can get there the best popcorn ever, or because there is the last popcorn stand before Africa, or because you get served fish and popcorn instead of fish and chips, no, the beach is called that because it is full of stones that look like popcorn. And in fact they are not stones, they are calcareous algae.

The Popcorn Beach is so littered with them that you can practically bathe in popcorn or throw it at yourself. But this is painful and not very comfortable, because the „calcareous algae popcorn“ is as hard as stone. The beach near Corralejo is a natural beach and can be reached via a gravel road.

And because the calcareous algae really look like popcorn, the beach has become a real Instagram hotspot and virtually a must on the island.
You take 2000 photos with the fake popcorn in your hand and throw it up and lie on it and walk on it and sit with your back to the viewer … The fully Instagram program – totally individual and creative. I would neeeeever do something like that. 😂😂🙈

Thank goodness the beach is wide and not so crowded that people are lining up, as in some Instagram hotspots on this planet. Still, stupid as people are, they like to take the stones with at home, although signs everywhere indicate that this is prohibited. By the way, the fake popcorn will be confiscated at the airport, for all those who can not or do not want to read. 🙈🙈

By the way, if you’re already in the area, it’s definitely worth making a stop at the white dunes of Corralejo – also a real Instagram must on Fuerteventura (I’ve written more about it here). And yes, you can just continue with the full Instagram program there: jumping around in the dunes, posing, doing handstands – totally unique and creative, of course 😂

And because this topic matters to me, and Fuerteventura really takes care to keep its beaches clean and free of plastic, I always have my water filter bottle with me there as well (affiliate link). It’s an easy way to avoid plastic while you’re out and about.

Wenn man auf der Karte nachschaut, wird man feststellen, dass Fuerteventura nicht weit von Marokko entfernt liegt. Agadir und Fuerteventura liegen per Luftlinie nicht mal 500 km voneinander entfernt. Die Landschaft Fuerteventuras ist vulkanischen Ursprungs und weist eine ähnlich schroffe und karge Landschaft auf wie Marokko. Ich liebe diese hügelige, steinwüstenartige Landschaft. Hier und da wachsen noch ein paar verirrte Palmen und viele Straßen, die zu den Stränden führen, sind Schotterpisten. Was will man mehr.

Auf Fuerteventura steht ganz klar das Naturerlebnis im Vordergrund und wegen des ständigen Windes ist die Insel ein absolutes Surfer-Paradies. Außerdem gehört Fuerteventura zu den wenigen Orten, an denen man mit seinem Wohnwagen noch wild campen darf. Also quasi ein Traum für Surfer und Individualisten. Daher ist die Grundstimmung auf der Insel grundsätzlich gechillt. Und das gefällt mir richtig gut.

Ich habe allerdings auch Freunde, die Fuerteventura ungefähr so spannend finden wie eine leere Lagerhalle. 🙈😂 Kein spektakuläres Entertainment und die Sehenswürdigkeiten Fuerteventuras sind auch eher Naturerlebnisse.
Natürlich gibt es auf Fuerteventura auch Instagram-Hotspots wie den Popcorn-Beach. Jeder hält die Steine in der Hand und macht 2000 Fotos, wirft sie hoch und macht weitere 2000 Fotos und sitzt und liegt im „Popcorn“ und macht nochmals 40000 Bilder. Woher ich das weiß? Ich habs auch gemacht. Dazu schreibe ich aber einen eigenen Post, schließlich muss ich meine 10.0000 Fotos ja irgendwie unterbekommen.

Heute ein paar Impressionen von der Insel. Die Bilder sind kaum bearbeitet. Omg, die Landschaft ist geradezu absurd schön….

If you look at the map, you will see that Fuerteventura is not far from Morocco. Agadir and Fuerteventura are not even 500 km apart as the crow flies. The landscape of Fuerteventura is of volcanic origin and has a similar rugged and barren landscape as Morocco. I love this hilly, rocky desert-like landscape. A few stray palm trees still grow here and there and many of the roads leading to the beaches are dirt roads. What more could you want.

On Fuerteventura, the focus is clearly on experiencing nature and because of the constant wind, the island is an absolute surfer’s paradise. In addition, Fuerteventura is one of the few places where you are still allowed to camp wild with your caravan. So quasi a dream for surfers and individualists. Therefore, the basic mood on the island is chilled. And I really like that.

However, I also have friends who find Fuerteventura about as exciting as an empty warehouse. No spectacular entertainment and the sights of Fuerteventura are also rather nature experiences.
Of course, Fuerteventura has Instagram hotspots like the Popcorn Beach. Everyone holds the stones in their hands and takes 2000 photos, throws them up and takes another 2000 photos and sits and lies in the „popcorn“ and takes another 40000 pictures. How do I know that? I did it too. But I’ll write a separate post about that, after all I have to accommodate my 10,0000 photos somehow.

Today a few impressions from the island. The pictures are hardly edited. Omg, the landscape is almost absurdly beautiful….

So sah es übrigens an den Surfspots aus. Leichter Wohnmobil Overload. So habe ich das auf Fuerteventura übrigens noch nie gesehen. Vermutlich lag das aber an den Weihnachtsferien und das man halt derzeit auch nirgendwo hinkommt.

By the way, this is how it looked at the surf spots. Light camper overload. I have never seen that on Fuerteventura, by the way. Presumably, however, this was due to the Christmas vacations and that you just currently also nowhere to go.
