In diesem Post geht es nicht um Sehenswürdigkeiten oder klassische Ausflugstipps, sondern um ein paar Dinge, die ihr wissen solltet, wenn ihr nach Nizza beziehungsweise nach Frankreich reisen möchtet. Hier findet ihr meine ganz persönlichen Reisetipps für Nizza und Frankreich – praktische Hinweise, die vor Ort wirklich hilfreich sein können.

Anreise nach Nizza: vom Flughafen in die Stadt

Der Flughafen von Nizza liegt nur etwa 7 km vom Stadtzentrum entfernt, weshalb Nizza eine ideale Destination für einen Kurztrip ist.

Mit der Straßenbahn: Günstige Anreisemöglichkeit

Die Straßenbahn ist die günstigste Möglichkeit, vom Flughafen in die Stadt zu gelangen. Das ist mein persönlicher Reisetipp für Nizza, wenn ihr die Stadt preiswert erkunden möchtet.

Die Tickets für die Straßenbahn in Nizza wurden inzwischen etwas angepasst. Es gibt verschiedene Tarife, unter anderem für Jugendliche, Senioren, Fahrten zum Flughafen, Park-and-Ride sowie Tageskarten. Da sich Preise und Angebote ändern können, schaut am besten direkt bei Lignes d’Azur nach.
Wichtig zu wissen: Die Fahrkarte ist inzwischen eine aufladbare Karte, die ihr am Automaten kaufen und später auch per App wieder aufladen könnt.

Außerdem könnt ihr ein Ticket für mehrere Personen nutzen. Wenn ihr beispielsweise zu dritt unterwegs seid, müsst ihr das Ticket dreimal entwerten. Wichtig: In Nizza muss das Ticket wirklich immer beim Einsteigen entwertet werden – auch beim Umsteigen und selbst dann, wenn ihr noch innerhalb der kostenfreien Umsteigezeit seid.

Mit einem Uber: Schnelle und günstige Alternative

ch liebe Uber. Schnell, zuverlässig und meistens deutlich günstiger als ein Taxi. Wer gerne Uber nutzt, kann das in Nizza problemlos tun. Insbesondere Fahrten zum Flughafen sind oft erheblich günstiger als mit einem klassischen Taxi.

Mit dem Taxi: Was du wissen solltest

Hier ist ein bisschen Vorsicht geboten. Taxis sind in Nizza ziemlich teuer und manche Fahrer sind leider nicht ganz ehrlich. Die Fahrt vom Flughafen bis in die Stadt kostet ungefähr 34,00 EUR.
Bevor ihr in das Taxi steigt, fragt nach dem Preis! Wenn der Fahrer mehr verlangt, sagt ihm, dass ihr wisst, dass der Preis maximal 35 EUR bis in die Stadt beträgt, und zwar inklusive Gepäck! Manche Fahrer versuchen beim Kassieren plötzlich mehr Geld zu verlangen, weil ihr ja Gepäck hattet. Dann droht mit der Polizei und verlangt eine Quittung!

Übrigens kann man in Nizza Taxis nicht einfach heranwinken. Das Chaos an der Promenade wäre unbeschreiblich. Es gibt Taxi-Haltestellen, an denen die Taxis stehen und mittlerweile gibt es auch die oben genannte Taxi-App.

Sicherheit und Kriminalität: So schützt ihr eure Wertsachen

Generell hat Frankreich eine höhere Kriminalitätsrate als Deutschland, gilt aber trotzdem als ein sicheres Reiseland, nur auf eure Habseligkeiten müsst ihr stärker achten. Touristen ziehen eben Diebe an. Die allgemeine Rufnummer für jeden Notfall in Frankreich lautet: 112. Weitere Notrufnummern und ein paar Tipps der Polizei könnt ihr auf dieser Website nachlesen.

Wichtige Sicherheitstipps für Nizza

• Niemals Gepäck und Wertgegenstände im Auto lassen und schon gar nicht sichtbar! Scheiben sind schnell eingeschlagen, auch an der belebten Promenade. Parkhäuser sind zwar bewacht und videoüberwacht, aber auch in Parkhäusern wäre ich vorsichtig mit Gepäck im Auto.
• Handtaschen und Rucksäcke gehören in Cafés und Restaurants NIEMALS auf den Stuhl gegenüber, über die Stuhllehne gehängt oder unter den Tisch. Hier sind Profis am Werk.
• Auch Handys auf dem Tisch in Straßenrestaurants sind beliebte Diebstahl-Objekte.
• Ebenfalls sollen einem Handys in der Straßenbahn oder an der Straße schon mal aus der Hand gerissen werden.
• Außerdem wird nachts schon mal über einen Balkon eingebrochen oder ein Fahrrad entwendet auch in einer dritten Etage. Checkt ab, ob man euer Appartement irgendwie erklimmen kann.
• Nehmt keine Wertsachen mit zum Strand oder lasst eure Taschen unbeaufsichtigt!

Parken in Nizza: Tipps und Wichtige Hinweise

Nizza ist im Sommer voll und Parkplätze sind rar. Ein weiterer nützlicher Reisetipp für Nizza meinerseits für den deutschen Touristen und sein heiliges Auto, ist in einem bewachten Parkhaus zu parken.

Wo Du sicher parken kannst

Viele Parkhäuser sind bewacht, 24 Stunden am Tag geöffnet und es gibt es sogar Dauertickets, die man am Schalter kaufen kann. Mit diesen Tickets hat man zwar keinen eigenen Parkplatz, kann aber rein-und rausfahren, wie man möchte.
Zudem kann man in einigen Parkhäusern Tickets im Voraus buchen.

Worauf Du beim parken noch achten solltest

Parkgebühren an der Straße kann man oft mit der „Pay by Phone“ App bezahlen, die wir ja auch in Deutschland nutzen.
Vorsicht auf den gelb mit „Livraison“ gekennzeichneten Flächen. Zwischen 04:00 und 12:00 Uhr ist das Parken auf den Livraison-Flächen verboten. Danach kann man auf diesen Parkplätzen parken, muss aber die geltenden Parkgebühren entrichten. Insbesondere gegen 04:00 Uhr morgens sind die Abschleppdienste unterwegs und räumen die Livraison-Parkplätze in der ganzen Stadt. Ihr solltet also euer Auto keinesfalls über Nacht auf so einem Parkplatz stehen lassen.

Was Tun, wenn Dein Auto abgeschleppt wurde?

Fahrzeuge, die in Nizza im Auftrag der Polizei abgeschleppt wurden, werden in der „Fourrière de Nice“ aufbewahrt. Diese befindet sich in Nice-Ouest in der Nähe des Flughafens. Auf der mehrsprachigen Website der „Fourrière de Nice“ könnt ihr das Kennzeichen eures Fahrzeugs eingeben und überprüfen, ob das Auto abgeschleppt wurde und sich tatsächlich dort befindet. Auf der Website findet ihr auch die Preise und was ihr benötigt, um euer Auto auszulösen.
Ihr könnt dann direkt dorthin fahren und euch euer Auto zurückholen.

Arztbesuch in Nizza: Was du wissen solltest

Wenn ihr einen Arzt in Nizza benötigt, empfehle ich euch das „C/7 Centre de Soins“. Es gibt allein in Nizza vier Stationen dieser Arztpraxen, in die man ohne Termin gehen kann. Die Arztpraxen in Nizza sind von 8:30 bis 22:00 Uhr geöffnet, und die Ärzte sprechen englisch. Die Mittagszeit hat sich übrigens in Sachen kurze Wartezeit bewährt. Die Arztkonsultation müsst ihr bezahlen (ca. 50 EUR), aber ihr bekommt eine Rechnung, die ihr bei eurer Auslandskrankenversicherung einreichen könnt. Außerdem könnt ihr Spezialisten über „Doctolib“ finden und Onlinetermine vereinbaren.

Dress Code in Nizza: Was du wissen solltest

Bekleidet! Recht neu sind die Schilder in der Stadt, die darauf hinweisen, dass es auch in Nizza innerhalb der City verboten ist, nur Badebekleidung zu tragen. Auch in Restaurants und Supermärkten ist nur Badekleidung nicht erlaubt. Dies ist übrigens ein wichtiger Travel Tip für Nizza und ganz Frankreich. (Ich berichtete in diesem Post.)

Wichtige Regeln für Restaurants und Supermärkte

Es ist wichtig zu wissen, dass Nizza strenge Regeln bezüglich der Bekleidung hat, besonders in Restaurants und Supermärkten. Hier gilt der Dress Code strikt, um ein angemessenes Erscheinungsbild zu wahren.

Sehenswürdigkeiten und Stadionbesuche

Für alle, die Sehenswürdigkeiten besuchen möchten, gibt es den French Riviera Pass für vergünstigte Tickets.

Besuch im Stadion: Beste Anreisemöglichkeiten

Wer im Stadion eine Veranstaltung besucht, sollte die Tram (Straßenbahn) oder den Bus nehmen. Parken und Verkehr sind beispielsweise zu Fußballspielen unbeschreiblich. Für Fußballspiele werden Sonder-Straßenbahnen oder Busse eingesetzt, die umsonst sind. Die Abfahrtszeiten findet ihr auf der Website vom OGC oder bei Lignes d’Azur.

Autobahngebühren: Bezahlung und Tipps für ganz Frankreich

Mein persönlicher Reisetipp für Frankreich ist die Bezahlung von Autobahngebühren mit Kredit- oder EC-Karte. Als Barzahler hält man den ganzen Verkehr auf.

Telepeage Badge: Schneller durch die Mautstationen

Man kann sich auch ein Telepeage Badge besorgen. Dann kann man die dafür reservierten Spuren nutzen und fährt einfach langsam durch die Terminals. Fertig. Es gibt Badges, die sind für Frankreich, Spanien, Italien und Portugal gültig.

Restaurantbesuche in Frankreich: Verhaltensregeln und Tipps

Wieder mein ganz persönlicher Reisetipp für Nizza: Reservieren, reservieren, reservieren! Niemals einfach in ein Restaurant gehen und sich unerlaubt an einen eingedeckten Tisch setzen, auch nicht für ein Foto. Niemals. Das sind die heiligen weißen Schäfchen der Kellner. In Bars und Cafés kann man es schon mal eher wagen, sich einfach an einen freien Tisch zu setzen. Ein paar Restaurant-Tipps für Nizza habe ich bereits in diesem Blogpost zusammengefasst.

Bekleidung im Restaurant: Was solltet ihr beachten?

Bekleiden! In Frankreich setzt man sich auch in einem Beachclub NICHT in Badebekleidung in ein Restaurant. In vielen Beachclubs und Lounges stehen sogar Schilder, die darauf hinweisen. Auch in der Stadt ist es verboten nur in Badebekleidung herumzulaufen. Es gibt sogar Schilder mit Androhung von Strafen bis zu 150,00 EUR bei Verstoß. Beachlife in Nizza: Wissenswertes über den Strand

Der Strand von Nizza ist ein Steinstrand, wer Badeschuhe besitzt, sollte sie unbedingt einpacken.
Außerdem sind die öffentlichen Strände von Nizza Nichtraucherstrände. Leider hält sich niemand daran und es liegen überall Zigarettenstummel herum. Mein Nizza-Reisetipp für Raucher: Nimm einen Taschenaschenbecher (Affiliate Link) mit an den Strand.

Strandbesuch mit Hund in Nizza: Das solltest du beachten

Während in den Beachclubs in Nizza Hunde erlaubt sind, müsst ihr ansonsten mit eurem Hund an den Hundestrand. Hunde sind im Winter am Strand zwar geduldet, im Sommer allerdings nicht, vielleicht noch ganz früh am Morgen bei Sonnenaufgang. Der Hundestrand, liegt ungefähr auf der Höhe „Hôpital Lenval“ (Das Krankenhaus an der Prom. mit den blauen Fensterscheiben.).

Feuerquallen: Was du wissen musst

Feuerquallen (Meduse): Wenn es heiß wird, gibt es auch Feuerquallen. Wie ihr euch verhalten müsst, wenn euch eine erwischt hat und die Feuerquallen-Warn-Website könnt ihr in diesem Post nachlesen.

Wasserflaschen Auffüllen: Die Grünen Pumpen in Nizza

In Nizza findet ihr an unzähligen Stellen diese grünen Pumpen, an denen ihr eure Wasserflaschen mit Trinkwasser auffüllen oder eurem Hund frisches Wasser geben könnt. Bei dem Wasser handelt es sich um kühles Trinkwasser. Hier und da gibt es auch Trinkwasser-Stationen. (Über die Pumpen berichtete ich übrigens bereits in diesem Post.)

In this post, I’m not talking about sightseeing or classic things to do, but rather about a few things you should know if you’re travelling to Nice or France in general. Here you’ll find my personal travel tips for Nice and France – practical little things that can actually be really helpful once you’re there.

Getting to Nice: From the Airport to the City

The Nice Airport is only about 7 km from the city center, making Nice an ideal destination for a short trip.

Taking the Tram: A Cheap Way to Get AroundThe tram is the cheapest way to get from the airport into the city and one of my personal travel tips for exploring Nice on a budget.

Ticket options for the tram in Nice have changed a little over time. There are now different fares for young people, seniors, airport transfers, park-and-ride tickets, and day passes. Since prices and ticket options can change, it’s best to check directly with Lignes d’Azur before your trip.

One important thing to know: tickets are now reloadable cards that you can buy at the ticket machines and later recharge via the app.

You can also use one ticket for multiple people. For example, if you are travelling as a group of three, the ticket needs to be validated three times. Important: in Nice, tickets really always need to be validated when entering the tram – even when changing lines and even if you are still within the free transfer time.

Taking an Uber: Quick and Affordable

I love Uber. It’s quick, reliable, and affordable. If you enjoy using Uber, you can do so wonderfully in Nice. It’s much cheaper than a taxi (around 17.00 EUR to the airport, and with a promo code, about 11.50 EUR).

Taking a Taxi: What You Should Know

A word of caution here. Taxis in Nice can be pretty expensive, and some drivers aren’t entirely honest. The ride from the airport to the city costs around 34.00 EUR.
Before you get into the taxi, ask for the price! If the driver asks for more, let them know you’re aware that the fare should be a maximum of 35 EUR to the city, including luggage! Some drivers try to charge extra when you pay because you had luggage. In that case, threaten to call the police and ask for a receipt!
When I need a taxi, I always book my taxis online with Taxi Nice, and I’ve never been disappointed: high-quality, clean cars, punctual pickups, super-friendly drivers, and the price is confirmed in advance.

By the way, in Nice, you can’t just hail a taxi on the street. The chaos on the Promenade would be unimaginable. There are taxi stands where taxis wait, and nowadays, you can also use the taxi app mentioned above.

Safety and Crime: How to Protect Your Belongings

France generally has a higher crime rate than Germany, but it’s still considered a safe travel destination. You just need to be more cautious with your belongings. Tourists are a magnet for thieves. The general emergency number for any situation in France is: 112. More Emergency numbers and some tips from the police can be found on this website

Important Safety Tips for Nice

• Never leave luggage and valuables in your car, especially not in plain sight! Windows can be smashed quickly, even on the busy Promenade. Parking garages are monitored and have video surveillance, but I’d still be cautious with luggage in the car.
• Handbags and backpacks should NEVER be left on the chair opposite, hung over the back of a chair, or under the table in cafes and restaurants. There are pros at work here.
• Phones left on tables in street restaurants are also popular targets for theft.
• Phones can also be snatched out of your hand on trams or on the street.
• Burglaries can happen at night, even on a third-floor balcony, or bikes can be stolen. Make sure your apartment is secure and not easily accessible.
• Don’t bring valuables to the beach or leave your bags unattended!

Parking in Nice: Tips and Important Information

Nice is packed in the summer, and parking is scarce. Another useful travel tip for Nice—especially for German tourists and their beloved cars—is to park in a secured parking garage.

Where You Can Park Safely

Many parking garages are monitored, open 24 hours a day, and some even offer long-term tickets you can buy at the counter. While you won’t have a reserved spot with these tickets, you can come and go as you please.
Additionally, you can book tickets in advance at some parking garages.

What to Watch Out for When Parking

You can often pay street parking fees with the “Pay by Phone” app, which is also used in Germany.
Be cautious with spaces marked “Livraison” in yellow. Parking is prohibited on these spaces from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM. After that, you can park there, but you still need to pay the applicable parking fees. Especially around 4:00 AM, towing services are out in full force, clearing the Livraison spaces all over the city. So, never leave your car overnight on one of these spaces.

What to Do if Your Car Gets Towed

Cars that are towed in Nice at the request of the police are taken to the “Fourrière de Nice.” This is located in Nice-Ouest near the airport. On the multilingual Fourrière de Nice website, you can enter your vehicle’s license plate number to check if your car was towed and if it’s actually there. The website also provides the fees and what you need to retrieve your car.
You can then head there directly and get your car back.

Visiting a Doctor in Nice: What You Need to Know

If you need a doctor in Nice, I recommend the “C/7 Centre de Soins„. There are four locations of these medical centersin Nice alone, where you can walk in without an appointment. These medical centers in Nice are open from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and the doctors speak English. By the way, midday tends to be the best time to avoid long waits. You’ll need to pay for the doctor’s consultation (around 50 EUR), but you’ll get a receipt that you can submit to your travel insurance. You can also find specialists through “Doctolib” and book online appointments.

Dress Code in Nice: What You Need to Know

Dress appropriately! New signs in the city indicate that even in Nice, it’s forbidden to wear just swimwear within the city center. Swimwear is also not allowed in restaurants and supermarkets. By the way, this is an important travel tip for Nice and all of France. (I’ve written about this in a previous post.)

It’s important to know that Nice has strict dress code rules, especially in restaurants and supermarkets. The dress code is strictly enforced to maintain an appropriate appearance.

Visiting the Stadium: The Best Ways to Get There

If you’re attending an event at the stadium, you should take the tram or bus. Parking and traffic can be chaotic during events like football games. Special trams or buses are available for football games and are free. You can find the departure times on the OGC website or at Lignes d’Azur.

Toll Fees: Payment and Tips for All of France

My personal travel tip for France is to pay toll fees with a credit or debit card. Paying cash will only hold up the traffic.

Telepeage Badge: Speed Through the Toll Stations

You can also get a Telepeage Badge. This allows you to use the reserved lanes and simply drive slowly through the terminals. Done. There are badges that work in France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal.

Eating Out in France: Etiquette and Tips

Here’s another one of my personal travel tips for Nice: reserve, reserve, reserve! Never just walk into a restaurant and sit at a set table, not even for a photo. Never. These are the holy little sheep of the waiters. In bars and cafes, you can be a bit bolder and just sit at an empty table. I’ve already shared a few restaurant tips for Nice in this blog post.

What You Should Wear in Restaurants

Dress appropriately! Even in a beach club in France, you don’t sit in a restaurant in swimwear. Many beach clubs and lounges even have signs reminding you of this. It’s also forbidden to walk around the city in just swimwear. There are even signs threatening fines of up to 150.00 EUR for violations. (I’ve already covered this in another blog post.)

Beachlife in Nice: What You Need to Know About the Beach

The beach in Nice is a pebble beach, so if you have water shoes, be sure to pack them. Also, Nice’s public beaches are technically non-smoking areas. Unfortunately, no one really follows that rule, and cigarette butts are scattered everywhere. My tip for smokers visiting Nice’s beaches: bring a pocket ashtray (affiliate link).

Visiting the Beach with Your Dog in Nice: What You Should Know

While dogs are allowed in the beach clubs in Nice, if you’re elsewhere, you’ll need to take your dog to the designated dog beach. Dogs are tolerated on the beach in winter, but not in summer—unless it’s very early in the morning at sunrise. The dog beach is located roughly near the Hôpital Lenval (the hospital with the blue windows on the Promenade).

Refilling Water Bottles: The Green Fountains in Nice

In Nice, you’ll find these green fountains all over the place where you can fill your water bottles with drinking water or give your dog some fresh water. The water is cool and drinkable. Here and there, you’ll also find drinking water stations. (I’ve written about the fountains in a previous post.)

Eines Tages in der Camargue …

So wie es in Südafrika die Big Five gibt, die jeder Tourist gesehen haben will, so gibt es in der Camargue auch tierische Highlights, die jedes Touristen-Herz höherschlagen lassen.

Da wären zum einen die Flamingos, die ich schon erwähnt habe (hier) und zum anderen die Camargue-Pferde und die Stiere.
Ich habe während eines Camargue-Besuchs sowohl Pferde als auch Stiere entdeckt und habe jeweils gestoppt, um ein paar Bilder zu schießen, wie es sich für einen anständigen Touristen mit Instagram Account gehört.

Allerdings gestehe ich, dass ich mich bei den Stieren nicht besonders nah an die Koppel gestellt habe. Respekt ist bei Stieren sicher nicht ganz unangebracht und der Zaun sah mir nicht aus wie ein Hochsicherheits-Zaun. 😂 Die Stiere verloren allerdings ziemlich schnell das Interesse an mir, als sie von etwas Fressbarem abgelenkt wurden, daher dieses Mal auf meinen Bildern: Stiere von hinten.

One day in Camargue …

Just as there is the Big Five in South Africa, which every tourist wants to see, there are also animal highlights in the Camargue, which make every tourist’s heart beat faster.

On the one hand there are the flamingos, which I already mentioned (here) and on the other hand the Camargue horses and bulls. During a visit to the Camargue I came across both horses and bulls, and of course I had to stop each time to snap a few photos—just as any proper tourist with an Instagram account would.

However, I confess that I didn’t get particularly close to the paddock when it came to the bulls. Respect is certainly not entirely out of place with bulls, and the fence didn’t look like a high security fence to me. However, the bulls lost their interest in me pretty quickly when they were distracted by something feedable, hence this time in my pictures: bulls from behind.

Le Grau-du-Roi ist ein kleines Fischerdorf in der Camargue, das seinen ganz eigenen Charme hat. Direkt am Mittelmeer gelegen, findet man hier nicht nur einen lebendigen Hafen mit bunten Fischerbooten, sondern auch gemütliche Straßencafés, kleine Läden und natürliche lange Sandstrände.

One day in Carmargue …

Le Grau-du-Roi is a small fishing village in the Camargue with a charm all of its own. Right on the Mediterranean, you’ll find not only a lively harbor with colorful fishing boats, but also cozy cafés, little shops, and long natural beaches.

It’s a truly pretty and absolutely worth-seeing spot in the Camargue. I’ll just let the pictures do the talking.

Eines Tages in der Carmague …

Ich wollte diese Bilder immer schon mal posten, ich kann sie euch einfach nicht vorenthalten, weil sie einfach zu schön sind. Entstanden sind sie in der Camargue, wo man wirklich richtig viele Flamingos ganz von Nahem sehen kann.

Wer ein bisschen Spaß am Fotografieren hat, weiß, dass man sagt, dass Fotografieren Licht bedeutet und dass dies nicht heißt: Viel hilft viel. Man braucht das richtige Licht, und das gibt es am frühen Morgen und am frühen Abend. Der frühe Abend ist meist wegen vieler Menschen keine Option. Wer gute Fotos machen will, muss also im Allgemeinen früh aufstehen – und ich meine damit verdammt früh aufstehen, nämlich noch vor Sonnenaufgang. Das hat allerdings den Vorteil, dass man seine Bilder längst im Sack hat, wenn alle aus ihren Löchern krabbeln und man selber schon längst mit einer Tasse Kaffee an der Arbeit hockt. Ich liebe das. Es ist ein unglaublich befriedigendes Gefühl.

In der Camargue bin ich für mein frühes Aufstehen mit einem Wahnsinns-Sonnenaufgang und traumhaften Flamingo-Bildern belohnt worden. Ich liebe diese Fotos von den Flamingos im aufsteigenden Nebel. Eine unglaublich schöne Atmosphäre.

one day in Camargue …

I always wanted to post these pictures, I simply can’t keep them from you because they’re just too beautiful. They were taken in the Camargue, where you can see a whole lot of flamingos up close.

Anyone who enjoys photography a little knows the saying that photography means light, and that this doesn’t mean “the more the better.” You need the right light, and that happens in the early morning or in the early evening. The early evening is usually not an option because of the crowds. So if you want to take good photos, you generally have to get up early – and I mean really early, before sunrise. The upside is that you’ve already got your shots in the bag by the time everyone else crawls out of their holes, while you’re already sitting at work with a cup of coffee. I love that. It’s such an incredibly satisfying feeling.

In the Camargue, I was rewarded for getting up early with a stunning sunrise and dreamy flamingo shots. I absolutely love these photos of the flamingos in the rising mist. Such an unbelievably beautiful atmosphere.
