Zuallererst muss ich mal erzählen, dass es in Frankreich keine Kaffee-und-Kuchen-Verabredungen gibt, wie wir sie in Deutschland kennen. Kaum zu glauben eigentlich, wenn man die Auswahl an süßen Köstlichkeiten in den Patisserien bedenkt. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass die Franzosen sie am liebsten als Dessert vernaschen. Das klassische Kaffeekränzchen ist den Franzosen also völlig fremd – das ist wohl eher so ein typisch deutsches Ding.

Kein Grund für mich, nicht trotzdem ein deutsches Kaffeepäuschen zu machen, wenn ich in Frankreich bin. Da eskaliert man auch schon mal in der Konditorei. Solch eine Konditorei ist für mich in Nizza die Patisserie „Canet„. Es gibt mehrere Filialen mit kleinen Cafés dabei und mittlerweile sogar eine Eisdiele.

First of all, I have to say that in France there are no coffee-and-cake get-togethers like we know them in Germany. Hard to believe really, when you think about the selection of sweet treats in the patisseries. I get the feeling the French prefer to enjoy them as dessert. The classic afternoon coffee and cake is completely foreign to them – that’s more of a German thing.

No reason for me not to have a little German-style coffee break when I’m in France. And sometimes that means going a bit overboard at the pastry shop. For me, in Nice that pastry shop is “Canet.” They have several locations with small cafés attached, and by now even an ice cream parlor.
