Um seine Gäste zum Staunen zu bringen, braucht man generell nicht viel. Es sind nicht die luxuriösesten Kerzenständer und teuersten Blumengestecke nötig, um eine besondere Atmosphäre für ein Lunch oder Dinner zu kreieren.

Es gibt da so eine Fernsehsendung, in der es eigentlich ums Kochen geht, aber ein bisschen auch immer um die Tischdekoration. Ich schwöre euch, da würde ich gerne mal dazwischenhauen und aufräumen. Nein, nein, nein: Der ganze Killefitt muss nicht sein!

Warum eine Tischdecke den Unterschied macht

Das Geheimnis eines stilvollen Tisches beginnt mit einer guten Tischdecke, und die kann ein Leben lang halten. Ich als ehemalige Dekorateurin würde auch empfehlen, noch in passende Stoffservietten zu investieren. Damit ist auch schon die Grundlage geschaffen, um aus einem normalen Esstisch einen Tisch zu zaubern, an dem ihr mit euren Gästen einen unvergesslichen Abend verbringen könnt.

Nehmen wir als Beispiel den folgenden Tisch. Könnt ihr euch vorstellen, was für ein Lunch hier stattgefunden hat? Die lachenden Gäste, glücklich mit einem einfachen Salat und frischem Brot? Dazu ein guter Wein und als Dessert die ersten süßen Erdbeeren des Sommers? Und ist der Tisch nicht ein Traum? Ich wette, der eine oder andere hätte ihn fotografiert.

Für diesen natürlichen Tisch schmückt ihr die Servietten einfach mit ein paar Gräsern oder Kräutern. Und wenn es draußen windig ist, kann man das Besteck ruhig auch mal auf der Serviette anordnen. In die Mitte des Tisches könnt ihr eine Ranke legen. Hier war es Wein, aber Efeu geht auch immer. Dazu verteilt ihr einfach ein paar Tomaten auf dem Tisch. Man kann aber zu jeglichem Gemüse oder auch zu Äpfeln oder Birnen greifen – Hauptsache, es harmoniert farblich und zieht keine Fliegen an 😂🙈.

Noch Essig, Öl und Wein auf den Tisch – und fertig ist die mediterrane Tischdekoration. Wer Essig und Öl in hübschen Flaschen aufbewahrt, hat es noch einfacher. Für so eine Draußen-Deko solltet ihr wegen der Brandgefahr übrigens unbedingt auf Kerzen und offenes Feuer verzichten.

There is this TV show that is actually about cooking, but somehow also always a little bit about table decoration. I swear, sometimes I would love to jump in and tidy everything up. No, no, no: all that little fuss is really not necessary!

Why a tablecloth makes all the difference

The secret of a stylish table begins with a good tablecloth, and that can last a lifetime. As a former decorator, I would also recommend investing in matching cloth napkins. With that, the foundation is already set to turn a normal dining table into a table where you can spend an unforgettable evening with your guests.

Take the following table as an example. Can you imagine what kind of lunch took place here? Laughing guests, happy with a simple salad and fresh bread? A good wine with it and the first sweet strawberries of summer for dessert? And is the table not a dream? I bet one or two people would have taken a photo of it.

The most important accessory for this natural look is the linen tablecloth. It is from Dekoria, and you can even have it made in the right size. And as I already recommended before, the table was set with matching linen napkins. A set table always creates a special atmosphere. In countries where food plays an important role, even restaurant tables are always properly set. How I love that.

For this natural table, you simply decorate the napkins with a few grasses or herbs. And if it is windy outside, you can also arrange the cutlery on the napkin. In the middle of the table, you can place a vine. In this case it was grapevine, but ivy always works too. Then simply spread a few tomatoes on the table, as we did here. You can also use any vegetables, apples or pears — as long as they match the colors and do not attract flies.

Add vinegar, oil and wine to the table — and your Mediterranean table decoration is done. If you keep vinegar and oil in pretty bottles, it is even easier. For this kind of outdoor decoration, you should definitely avoid candles and open fire because of the risk of fire.
