Die Dachterrasse des El Fenn ist mindestens genauso berühmt wie das Hotel an sich – und das völlig zu Recht. Das El Fenn Rooftop in Marrakesch erstreckt sich über 1.300 m² direkt gegenüber der Koutoubia Moschee und ist einer der schönsten Orte der Stadt. Man gelangt übrigens über eine Treppe vom wunderschönen Hotelshop aus nach oben – was allein schon ein kleines Erlebnis für sich ist.
Restaurant mit Blick über die Dächer
Im Restaurantbereich wird morgens für Hotelgäste das Frühstück serviert – auf der Terrasse, mit Blick auf die Koutoubia Moschee. Kein schlechter Start in den Tag, um es mal vorsichtig auszudrücken. Zum Lunch und Abendessen ist das Restaurant auch für Nicht-Hotelgäste geöffnet, allerdings nur mit Reservierung. Die ist wirklich Pflicht – ohne hat man keine Chance auf einen Platz.
Das El Fenn Rooftop in Marrakesch zum Sundown
Die Rooftop Bar ist legendär, besonders zum Sundown. Der Blick auf die Koutoubia Moschee, den Atlas und über die Dächer der Stadt ist ein absoluter Traum. Die Bar öffnet täglich ab 12:30 Uhr, Last Admittance ist um 22:00 Uhr – und früh zum Sundown kommen lohnt sich, denn die Kapazität ist begrenzt.
Die Einrichtung ist durchgehend in Rot und Weiß gehalten, mit wunderschönen marokkanischen Fliesen – loungig, gemütlich und dabei absolut stilvoll. Es gibt bequeme Sofas und Daybed-Bereiche mit dicken Kissen, kleine Tischchen mit Hockern und natürlich Plätze direkt an der Bar. Für Hotelgäste gibt es zusätzlich einen abgesperrten Bereich mit Liegen, damit man auch wirklich entspannen kann. Wer Interior-Bücher liebt, kennt außerdem die berühmte Wand mit den marokkanischen Laternen – abends werden diese angezündet und das Bild ist einfach magisch.
Zwei Pools und hausgemachte Cocktails
Auf dem Rooftop gibt es zwei Pools – einen kleineren und einen etwas größeren, der zum Hotelgäste-Bereich gehört. Die Barkeeper servieren klassische Cocktails, haben aber auch eigene marokkanische Kreationen im Programm. Alle sehr köstlich. Außerdem gibt es leckere Snacks.

The rooftop terrace of El Fenn is at least as famous as the hotel itself – and completely deservedly so. The El Fenn Rooftop in Marrakech stretches across 1,300 square metres directly opposite the Koutoubia Mosque and is one of the most beautiful spots in the city. You reach it via a staircase from the hotel’s beautiful shop – which is already a little experience in itself.
Restaurant with Views across the Rooftops
In the restaurant area, breakfast is served for hotel guests every morning – on the terrace, with a view of the Koutoubia Mosque. Not a bad start to the day, to put it mildly. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant is also open to non-hotel guests, but only with a reservation. And that really is non-negotiable – without one, you won’t get a table.
The El Fenn Rooftop in Marrakech at Sundown
The rooftop bar is legendary, especially at sundown. The view of the Koutoubia Mosque, the Atlas Mountains and across the rooftops of the city is an absolute dream. The bar opens daily from 12:30, last admittance is at 10pm – and arriving early for sundown is well worth it, as capacity is limited.
The décor is consistently red and white throughout, with beautiful Moroccan tiles – loungy, cosy and utterly stylish. There are comfortable sofas and daybed areas with thick cushions, small tables with stools and of course seats right at the bar. Hotel guests also have access to a reserved area with sun loungers, so you can properly switch off. And if you love interior design books, you’ll recognise the famous wall with the Moroccan lanterns – lit up in the evening, it’s simply magical.
Two Pools and House-made Cocktails
On the rooftop there are two pools – a smaller one and a slightly larger one in the area reserved for hotel guests. The bartenders serve classic cocktails but also have their own Moroccan creations on the menu. All absolutely delicious. And there are tasty snacks available too.
