RED BULL AIR RACE CANNES 2018

Das erste „Red Bull Air Race in Cannes“ fand dieses Wochende statt. Cannes ist von Nizza aus gesehen um die Ecke. Vor einigen Jahren hatten wir ein spektakuläres „Red Bull Air Race in Budapest“ erlebt und wollten uns dieses Ereignis in Cannes nicht entgehen lassen.
Zu meinem Leidwesen konnte das „Red Bull Air Race in Cannes“ mit Budapest nicht annähernd mithalten. Ich fand es sogar recht enttäuschend. Die gesamte Croisette von Cannes, samt des Entertainments am Himmel, war hinter verhangenen Bauzäunen versteckt. Vom Charme der Stadt war nicht viel übrig. Außerdem gehören in Frankreich kreischend laute Musik und brüllende Moderationen zu großen Ereignissen. Das muss man schon mögen. Ich war jedenfalls enttäuscht, zumal ich Budapest völlig anders erlebt hatte. Allerdings ist das auch schon einige Jahre her. Und es ist natürlich möglich, das auch in Budapest die chilligen Tage beim „Red Bull Air Race“ vorbei sind.
Den Menschenmassen nach zu urteilen, war das Ereignis in Cannes sicher ein großer Erfolg.
Wir haben uns keine Tickets für „hinter dem Zaun gekauft“ und haben uns lieber den Tag in der Altstadt vertrieben. Ein paar Impressionen habe ich dennoch…

The first „Red Bull Air Race in Cannes“ took place this weekend. Cannes is just around the corner from Nice. Some years ago we had experienced a spectacular „Red Bull Air Race in Budapest“ and didn’t want to miss this event in Cannes.
To my regret, the „Red Bull Air Race in Cannes“ could not nearly keep up with Budapest. I even found it quite disappointing. The whole Croisette of Cannes, including the entertainment in the sky, was hidden behind a covered construction fence. There was not much left of the charm of the city. Besides, in France screaming loud music and roaring moderations belong to big events. You have to like that. In any case, I was disappointed, especially since I had experienced Budapest completely differently. But that was a few years ago. And of course it’s possible that the chilly days of the „Red Bull Air Race“ in Budapest are over.
Judging by the crowds, the event in Cannes was certainly a great success.
We didn’t buy tickets for „behind the fence“ and preferred to spend the day in the old town. Nevertheless I have a few impressions…
