EIN TAG IN SAINT TROPEZ

Heute waren wir wieder in Saint Tropez und das Wetter war so schön, dass wir erst richtig spät wieder zurückgekommen sind. Die Stimmung im Ort war viel besser als vor zwei Wochen und es waren auch schon einige Touristen da.

Der beliebte Markt ist nun wie angekündigt geteilt. Lebensmittel und Händler mit Kleidung, die immer da sind haben, ihren Stand weiterhin auf dem Place des Lices. Die Stimmung ist eigentlich wie immer. Ein zweiter Markt mit Kleidung befindet auf dem Parkplatz im Hafen, dieser Teil des Marktes wirkt noch ein bisschen trostlos, vermutlich aber auch, weil noch nicht alle Händler wieder da sind.

Im Ort selber sind einige Cafés und Restaurants bereits wieder geöffnet, wie die „Bar du Port“ oder das „Senequier“ im Hafen. Nachdem ich gestern darüber philosophiert habe, ob es Corona-Zuschläge in Cafés geben wird konnte ich in von Saint Tropez nicht feststellen. Ich habe gehört, dass das „Senequier“, in dem ein Cappuccino im letzten Jahr 10,00 EUR gekostet hat, seine Preise sogar gesenkt haben soll.

Wer im letzten Jahr mit Schrecken festgestellt hat, dass die Institution „Café de Paris“ mit seinem rotem Samt nicht mehr existiert, wird sich freuen zu hören, dass der alte Betreiber das „Café de Paris“ wieder übernommen hat. Der Hafen war einfach nicht mehr derselbe ohne das „Café de Paris“. Am meisten hat es mir im Winter gefehlt. Es war so gemütlich zwischen den roten Samtkissen. Der neue Betreiber hatte das Restaurant im Herbst geschlossen und so gab es am besten Platz im Hafen nur ein weiteres trostloses, leerstehendes Restaurant. Der ehemalige und neue Besitzer wird das „Café de Paris“ jedenfalls wieder ganzjährig betreiben. Ob der rote Samt auch wieder zurückkommt weiß man nicht. Ich bin jedenfalls gespannt.

Wer die Tage nach Saint Tropez kommt, um sich die Yachten im Hafen anzuschauen, der bekommt momentan auch noch nicht viel zu sehen. So leer kenne ich den Hafen nicht mal vom Winter… Und auch viele Geschäfte stehen im Ort noch leer, aber ich glaube die Saison kommt so langsam in Gang.

Ich selbst war heute seit Monaten zum ersten Mal wieder in einem Restaurant und in einem Café. Wir hatten uns das Restaurant vom „Lily of the Valley Hotel“ für unseren ersten Restaurantbesuch ausgesucht, weil es dort recht weitläufig ist. Und da wir trotz Wind draußen gesessen hatten und es auch nicht besonders voll war, hat es sich eigentlich wie immer angefühlt.

Today we were back in Saint Tropez and the weather was so nice that we came back really late. The atmosphere in the town was much better than two weeks ago and there were already some tourists there.

The popular market is now divided as announced. Food and traders with clothes, who are always there, still have their stand on the Place des Lices. The atmosphere is actually like always. A second market with clothes is on the parking lot in the harbour, this part of the market still looks a bit dreary, but probably also because not all traders are back yet.

In the village itself, some cafés and restaurants are already open again, like the „Bar du Port“ or the „Senequier“ in the harbour. After I philosophized yesterday about whether there will be corona surcharges in cafés, I could not find out in von Saint Tropez. I heard that the „Senequier“, where a cappuccino cost 10,00 EUR last year, even lowered its prices.

Anyone who was horrified to discover last year that the institution „Café de Paris“ with its red velvet no longer exists will be happy to hear that the old operator has taken over the „Café de Paris“ again. The port was simply no longer the same without the „Café de Paris“. What I missed most was the winter. It was so cosy between the red velvet cushions. The new operator had closed the restaurant in autumn and so the best place in the harbour was just another dreary, empty restaurant. Anyway, the former and new owner will run the „Café de Paris“ all year round again. If the red velvet will come back again is not known. Anyway I am curious.

Those who come during the days to Saint Tropez in order to have a look at the yachts in the harbour will not get much to see at the moment. I do not know the harbour so empty even from the winter time… And also many shops are still empty in the place, but I think the season slowly gets going.

I myself was today for the first time in months in a restaurant and a café. We had chosen the restaurant of the „Lily of the Valley Hotel“ for our first visit, because it is quite spacious. And since we had been sitting outside in spite of the wind and it was not very crowded, it actually felt like always.
