LILLET ROSÉ – FRANZÖSISCHER APERITIF

In einer deutschen Zeitung habe ich Werbung für einen französischen Aperitif entdeckt: Lillet. Noch nie gehört. Außer mir scheint allerdings jeder in Deutschland Lillet zu kennen. Dieses neumodische Zeug ist wohl an mir vorübergegangen. Gibt es ja auch erst seit 1872 🙈.

Und obwohl Lillet aus Frankreich stammt, ist es hier überhaupt nicht so angesagt wie in Deutschland. In Nizza beispielsweise habe ich Lillet bisher auf keiner Getränkekarte finden können. Lillet gibt es in Frankreich natürlich schon, aber den Drink Lillet Wild Berry wird man hier eher nicht finden. Das liegt ganz einfach daran, dass es Wild Berry Tonic hier nicht zu kaufen gibt. Warum auch immer. Es gibt ihn nicht.
Also für alle, die sich wundern, warum dieses Getränk hier nirgendwo angeboten wird, obwohl Lillet eigentlich aus Frankreich stammt: Daran liegt es vermutlich.

Im Supermarkt meines Vertrauens habe ich immerhin vier verstaubte Flaschen Lillet gefunden und spontan eine Flasche der Rosé-Variante mitgenommen.

Auf der Internetseite von Lillet habe ich diverse Mixideen gefunden und dann einfach ein bisschen herumprobiert. Wenn es kein Wild Berry Tonic gibt, muss man eben kreativ werden. Die Mixversuche habe ich meinem letzten Besuch untergejubelt. Mit dem Ergebnis, dass die restlichen drei verstaubten Flaschen aus dem Supermarkt jetzt bei mir im Kühlschrank stehen 😂.
Mit Tonic, frischer Minze, Gurke und ein paar Beeren haben wir Lillet Rosé für ganz allerköstlichst befunden. Mit viel Eis hat er sich nach einem heißen Tag geradezu als erfrischend herausgestellt.

PS: Mittlerweile habe ich Lillet Wild Berry in Deutschland natürlich längst zu lieben gelernt. Und auch in Frankreich sind Lillet-Drinks inzwischen etwas angesagter. Nur Wild Berry Tonic bekommt man hier noch immer nicht einfach im Supermarkt. Tonic gibt es, Grapefruit Tonic gibt es, ganz normales Tonic gibt es auch. Aber Wild Berry Tonic muss man in Frankreich schon eher im Internet bestellen. Warum auch immer.

In a German newspaper, I discovered an advertisement for a French aperitif: Lillet. Never heard of it. Apparently, though, everyone in Germany knows Lillet except me. This modern stuff must have completely passed me by. It has only been around since 1872, after all 🙈.

And although Lillet comes from France, it is not nearly as popular here as it is in Germany. In Nice, for example, I have not yet been able to find Lillet on any drinks menu. Lillet does of course exist in France, but you probably will not find the drink Lillet Wild Berry here. The reason is quite simple: Wild Berry Tonic is not available here. Why ever that may be. It simply does not exist.
So for anyone wondering why this drink is not offered anywhere here, even though Lillet actually comes from France: that is probably the reason.

In the supermarket I trust, I did at least find four dusty bottles of Lillet and spontaneously took home a bottle of the rosé version.

On the Lillet website, I found various mixing ideas and then simply experimented a little. If there is no Wild Berry Tonic, you just have to get creative. I tested my mixing attempts on my last visitor. The result: the remaining three dusty bottles from the supermarket are now standing in my fridge.

With tonic, fresh mint, cucumber and a few berries, we found Lillet Rosé absolutely delicious. With lots of ice, it turned out to be wonderfully refreshing after a hot day.

PS: By now, of course, I have long since learned to love Lillet Wild Berry in Germany. And Lillet drinks have also become a little more popular in France. But Wild Berry Tonic is still not something you can simply buy in a supermarket here. You can find tonic, grapefruit tonic and regular tonic. But in France, Wild Berry Tonic is still something you are more likely to order online. Why ever that may be.
