There are things you can’t have enough of in your house. The ladies who read along here: Shoes and handbags I leave out today times. It’s about things like lanterns or small spoons, they are always first out. My father used to call it the spoon record, depending on the time of day when all the little spoons were dirty. I think the spoon record was 11:00 on a Sunday, with no visitors in the house 😂🙈.

Back to the things I can’t have enough of. Small bowls are definitely one of those things too. I have several from Morocco, some to match the dishes, and my latest bowl acquisition is from Dekoria and even has a matching wooden board to go with it. In this case, the set has a Japanese style with cherry blossoms and I can think of about a thousand things you could arrange in it.
From soy sauces and wakame to sushi, antipasti for guests to classic aperitif delicacies like Sandra and I did in Provence.

It’s so easy to impress your guests. And with the seat cushions from Dekoria, you can make it cozy anywhere in no time anyway …

In a forum was once asked where you could go in the high season in Nice, Cannes and surroundings inexpensive dining. There were heaps of stupid comments, why one makes at all in the high season in this area vacation. This actually annoyed me a bit because „best things in life are free“!

The great beach clubs and restaurants are of course great and also a highlight but do you know what my visitors usually like best? A beach picnic. You don’t need much and you can make it a little bit more stylish like on my photos for Dekoria, with real dishes and glasses or very simple with wine bottle, paper cup and pizza box. And you don’t even need a beach for that. A riverbank, a quarry pond or a carp pond.

Believe me, if you’ve got that down as a guy, you’ll turn the girls‘ heads in rows, even without velvet pillows and decorative chi-chi. This is for us advanced …

And actually, with these pictures I just want to remind you again that you can do such things both on vacation and on your own doorstep.

(advertising & affiliate links)

I confess, there are photos that I really want to shoot. This is sort of my photo shoot bucket list.
On this list, however, are no photos of me on a swing over a cliff after standing in line at the swing for an hour. No, completely different photos: Photos like a picnic on the beach or in a cornfield, Pinterest-worthy, of course.

I’ve already been able to check off the picnic in the cornfield photo with Sandra’s help, although it’s actually more of a picnic in the straw, if you think about it.

When I was at Sandra’s (it’s been a while) and saw that freshly mowed field, I just got so itchy to do something… And Sandra is only too happy to be persuaded to the wildest outrages.

After this experience in the straw, I can tell every city kid who dreams of a romantic or idyllic overnight stay in the straw, by the way, already one thing: Straw is not cool to lie on, as long as you are not a horse! Straw is quite prickly. So just keep your hands off romantic in the straw, unless you have such a wonderful pillow mountain like me. With pillow mountain, though, it’s a pretty cool affair.

By the way, I always find beautiful pillows at Dekoria. Oops 😂🙈

(advertising & affiliate links)

Have I ever told you that Sandra can cook incredibly well? Whenever I am with her, I try to persuade her to cook something nice. It goes something like this:
Sandraaaaa (with 17 aaaaa)? Should we cook this or that? Sandra laughs then and I must confess rightly, because from WE can not be a piece of the speech. When WE cook, Sandra cooks and I try not to get in the way and on top of that not to break anything. By the way, I’m very good at destroying glasses when washing up, which is why I’m not allowed to touch every glass at Sandra’s house.

But since there are actually a few things I’m really good at, I save them for when WE cook together. For example, I set the table. I don’t want to sound full of myself, but that’s something I’m genuinely good at. And with pretty dishes, it’s honestly a breeze. By the way, this pretty tableware is from Dekoria and because it all looked so nice, I took a thousand pictures right away. So at least I was not in the way in the kitchen.

(advertising)

Because I am already big and must therefore (unfortunately) always behave, I have of course not snuggled in the big bed in the store of Les Bohémiens and cuddled the pillows there. (I reported in the last post here).

So really bad is actually not that I had to pull myself together, because I have it at home also quite nice and beautiful pillows waiting for their caresses I also have enough. Among them, by the way, are also brand new pillows from Dekoria (affiliate link), which still need to be cuddled. And matching the pillows I even have the dishes and beautiful blue glasses.

To the glasses I have a very special relationship. I’m going to tell you a real tick of mine: I can’t drink flavored drinks out of colored glasses unless the color and flavor go together. I know I’m a total nut, but I can’t get down orange juice from a green or yellow glass.

But from these blue glasses from Dekoria, for example, the water tastes especially good to me, especially refreshing. I’m crazy, I know, feel free to say it, but it is like it is. In addition, the glasses also look pretty great and fit perfectly with my current summer style in the living room …

PS: What are your ticks?

Can you imagine anything better than enjoying a little apéritif at a pool bar in Provence, after a refreshing swim while the cicadas are singing?

I absolutely love Sandra’s (@fontainedecerier) little pool house in the heart of Provence. There’s always a shady spot, and the décor changes regularly. Right now, the style is especially beautiful: rattan meets linen and Monstera from „Dekoria.“ Just my taste.

The linen cushions from „Dekoria“ are simply so practical. They fit in anywhere, and with them you can turn a small side table into a little bench in no time. The matching linen napkins complete the look perfectly. And those Monstera cushions are among my absolute favorites anyway.

I actually bought my beloved Monstera cushions from „Dekoria“ myself, and I’d purchase them again any time. I’ve even thought about using the fabric to sew something lovely – if I would finally just decide on a sewing machine.

Dekoria Tischdecke & einfache Tischdekoration

In general, you do not need much to make your guests stop and stare. You do not need the most luxurious candlesticks or the most expensive flower arrangements to create a special atmosphere for lunch or dinner.

There is this TV show that is actually about cooking, but somehow also always a little bit about table decoration. I swear, sometimes I would love to jump in and tidy everything up. No, no, no: all that little fuss is really not necessary!

Why a tablecloth makes all the difference

The secret of a stylish table begins with a good tablecloth, and that can last a lifetime. As a former decorator, I would also recommend investing in matching cloth napkins. With that, the foundation is already set to turn a normal dining table into a table where you can spend an unforgettable evening with your guests.

Dekoria tablecloth & simple table decoration

Take the following table as an example. Can you imagine what kind of lunch took place here? Laughing guests, happy with a simple salad and fresh bread? A good wine with it and the first sweet strawberries of summer for dessert? And is the table not a dream? I bet one or two people would have taken a photo of it.

The most important accessory for this natural look is the linen tablecloth. It is from Dekoria, and you can even have it made in the right size. And as I already recommended before, the table was set with matching linen napkins. A set table always creates a special atmosphere. In countries where food plays an important role, even restaurant tables are always properly set. How I love that.

For this natural table, you simply decorate the napkins with a few grasses or herbs. And if it is windy outside, you can also arrange the cutlery on the napkin. In the middle of the table, you can place a vine. In this case it was grapevine, but ivy always works too. Then simply spread a few tomatoes on the table, as we did here. You can also use any vegetables, apples or pears — as long as they match the colors and do not attract flies.

Add vinegar, oil and wine to the table — and your Mediterranean table decoration is done. If you keep vinegar and oil in pretty bottles, it is even easier. The beautiful black tableware on our table is also from the Dekoria online shop. And what do you think — is the table not a dream, even without a lot of fuss? For this kind of outdoor decoration, you should definitely avoid candles and open fire because of the risk of fire.

PS: I have shown another beautiful tablecloth from Dekoria in my post about the Toile de Jouy tablecloth.

Viele Fotos – so ca. 4000 Stück 🤔.

“If I had known you were coming, I would have baked a cake.”
My friend Sandra from Fontaine de Cérier knew I was coming. And she had baked a cake.
Chocolate cake 😋. By the way, the cake was baked without a recipe and was still absolutely heavenly. Recipes are probably only for people like me.
But I could keep up quite well with what I had brought with me. I had black Dekoria tableware in my luggage. And since Sandra absolutely loves tableware and porcelain, we immediately inaugurated it with that very chocolate cake.

And because it looked so wonderful when Sandra came around the corner with the cake on the plate, in her beautiful dress, with the matching tableware and that delicious chocolate cake, we obviously had to take photos. Many photos maybe 4000 or so 🤔.
Thank God Sandra is up for every bit of fun and willingly let me chase her around the kitchen. It went something like this: Do that again. And again. And again, please. Noooo, not like thaaat! Ohhh, that looked so beautiful just now.
At least we were clever enough to drink the coffee and eat the cake before our photo session. Because one photo turned into, as already mentioned, about 2000 to 425,000 photos or so.

Just as crazy as the French are about kitschy Christmas decorations, they also seem to be crazy about Halloween. The whole city is bloody 🙈😂 and decorated, there are loads of parties, and even the bakers do not hold back. They decorate their wonderful cakes and little pastries with spider webs, tiny ghosts and everything a Halloween heart 👻🎃 could dream of.
Of course, I could not resist either and treated myself to a little spooky coffee gathering.

Actually, I only wanted to show you a few pictures of the adorable little cakes and my flowers on Instagram. However, while taking photos, the whole thing developed a life of its own. In the end, it turned into a small photo shoot, including a blog post. The whole thing.

English Version

If you ever happen to have some vegetables left over because you a) decorated your kitchen for photos beforehand or b) became a shopping victim at your favorite greengrocer and bought artichokes because they looked so pretty, then I have just the thing for you: a tip for a vegetarian table decoration.

For my tip, all you need is your leftover vegetables and a few guests.

Not that you now think you have to cook something amazing for your guests. Of course, you are very welcome to do that. But I am a decorator, not a cook, so I use the vegetables as decoration before eating them. From a sustainability point of view, that is even one step better. And if your guests also arrive by bike and wear ecologically acceptable clothing … I am digressing again.
So, what I wanted to say is this: even with vegetables from the fridge, you can decorate your table really well. The vegetarian table decoration, so to speak.
Of course, the vegetables for this kind of table decoration should be color-coordinated. For example, you can mix asparagus green plus lime green plus lemon yellow, or plum plus fig plus grape red. Please do not throw apple green plus lemon yellow plus radish red and carrot orange together🙈.

By the way, I became weak while shopping for my kitchen post (here) when I saw the artichokes at the greengrocer’s. Before I knew it, limes, green asparagus, basil and chives had also landed in my stylish basket. The man clearly knows exactly how it works …

PS: The asparagus and the baguette did not survive long enough for the decoration, but everything else was allowed onto the table. I also relieved my indoor palm of a few fronds, and my vegetarian table decoration was ready.
