Und last but not least muss, wirklich muss man einmal die Tour raus nach Cofete gemacht haben, wenn man auf Fuerteventura war. Natur pur. Cofete liegt auf der schwer zugänglichen Seite der Insel und ist nur über eine Schotterpiste zu erreichen, die mittlerweile aber gut in Schuss ist. Wie wir gesehen haben, kann man sogar Jeeptouren nach Cofete buchen, die stehen dann wohl auch für die Kreuzfahrt-Touristen auf dem Programm. Aber wie gesagt, nach Cofete kommt man mittlerweile mit jedem Auto und auch mit jedem normalen Wohnmobil. Ich kenne Leute, die in ihrem Fuerteventura-Urlaub täglich nach Cofete fahren, weil ihnen der Strand dort so gut gefällt. Aber Vorsicht auf dem Parkplatz, der ziemlich sandig ist, denn auch da fahren sich regelmäßig Wohnmobile und Autos fest. Wer mit dem Wohnmobil nach Fuerteventura fährt und sichergehen will, kann sich ja Sandbleche mit ins Auto werfen. Auch wenn man sie selbst nicht braucht, kann man damit sicher einigen Urlaubern aus der Patsche helfen.

Cofete ist auch der Ort, an dem die berühmte Villa Winter steht, die nach Gustav Winter benannt wurde. Um die Villa ranken sich Mythen wie die, dass von dort aus Nazigrößen zum Ende des Weltkriegs zur Flucht nach Südamerika verholfen wurde.
Das Gelände der Villa ist mittlerweile umzäunt und kann nicht besichtigt werden.

Und wenn man schon mal in der Ecke ist, sollte man sich auch gleich die Gegend um den Leuchtturm herum anschauen. Ebenso atemberaubend.

And last but not least, you must, really must have made the tour out to Cofete once, if you were on Fuerteventura. Pure nature. Cofete is located on the hard-to-reach side of the island and can only be reached via a gravel road, which is now in good shape. As we have seen, you can even book jeep tours to Cofete, which are then probably also for the cruise tourists on the program. But as I said, you can get to Cofete by now with any car and also with any normal camper. I know people who go to Cofete every day in their Fuerteventura vacation, because they like the beach there so much. But be careful on the parking lot, which is quite sandy, because even there RVs and cars regularly get stuck. Who goes with the camper to Fuerteventura and wants to be sure, can throw yes sand plates with in the car. Even if you don’t need them yourself, you can certainly help some vacationers out of trouble.

Cofete is also the location of the famous Villa Winter, named after Gustav Winter. There are myths about the villa, such as that Nazi celebrities were helped to escape to South America from there at the end of the World War.

The grounds of the villa are now fenced off and cannot be visited.
And while you’re in the corner, you might as well check out the area around the lighthouse. Just as amazing.
