Èze. Endlich.
Wo kamen die alle her?

Finally. I had been on holiday in Nice a thousand times. And I really do spend a lot of time here, but I had never made it to Èze Village before. Even though every travel guide lists it as a must-see. My boyfriend had strictly refused to go to Èze Village with me so far. Should I have been suspicious? In any case, I really wanted to go to Èze Village.
Clever as I am, I convinced our last visitors that they absolutely had to see Èze. Done. And so, on a weekend day, after sleeping in, swimming and a long breakfast, we drove to Èze Village.
When I saw the parked coaches, tourist vans and cars, I got a little scared. Where had they all come from? It was off-season. My boyfriend, a tiny bit mockingly, I thought, said: “There you go, here is your peaceful little Èze Village.” Okay, I had not expected these crowds. There were definitely too many people for this tiny hilltop village.
In this little village with its charming lanes, there are two luxury hotels. The hotel Château Eza has an amazing terrace with a sea view, where we could finally enjoy Èze Village in a more relaxed way. We skipped the botanical garden that day. I visited the Jardin Exotique d’Èze later, though, and of course took photos.
At the foot of the village, Fragonard has a small fabrication where short tours for groups take place and end in a spacious shop. If you are going to do the tourist program, you might as well do it properly. So we joined the Fragonard tour as well. Tourists are known to buy souvenirs, so as the grand finale of the day, I bought a reed diffuser in the Fragonard boutique. The diffuser is actually really lovely. I chose the scent Verveine, which is verbena.
If you are wondering how I managed to take photos without crowds of people, let me tell you: patience. And even more patient and very polite Asian visitors. 🙂
Despite the initial shock, we had a really lovely day in Èze Village. It was fun, I would go back anytime and I would still recommend Èze to others. Maybe the early bird really does catch the worm — although I am not entirely sure about that either.
