Geheimtipps für Restaurants in Nizza gibt es übrigens kaum, denn Einheimische und Touristen mischen sich fast überall. Aber eines ist sicher: Wo es voll ist, ist es meist auch gut.

Tipps für Restaurantbesuche in Nizza

In Nizza (und ganz Frankreich) gibt es ein paar ungeschriebene Regeln, die Touristen kennen sollten:
Warten auf einen Tisch
In Frankreich sucht man sich im Restaurant nicht selbst einen Platz. Man wartet im Eingangsbereich, bis ein Kellner einen Tisch zuteilt. Reservierungen sind besonders in der Ferienzeit sinnvoll.
Die weißen Tischdecken
Eingedeckte Tische mit weißen Tischdecken sind für Gäste gedacht, die essen möchten. Für ein Glas Wein oder nur ein Getränk setzt man sich dort nicht hin.
Dresscode
In Badebekleidung geht man nicht ins Restaurant oder in Loungebars, auch nicht in Beachclubs. Nasse Badehosen auf Polstern sind unerwünscht – der nächste Gast würde sonst mit einem nassen Sitz enden.

You don’t pick your own table in a restaurant. You wait at the entrance until a waiter seats you. Making a reservation is always a good idea, especially during the holiday season.
The White Tablecloths
Tables set with white tablecloths are reserved for dining guests only. You won’t be served just drinks at these tables.
Dress Code
Don’t go to restaurants or lounge bars in swimwear, not even in beach clubs. Sitting on sofas with wet swim trunks is frowned upon – and uncomfortable for the next guest.

„Rue Bonaparte“ & „Place du Pin“ – angesagtes Ausgehviertel/ – hip nightlife district
Wenn man vom „Place Garibaldi“ aus die „Rue Bonaparte“ zum „Place du Pin“ hinunter schlendert ist man im besten Viertel für einen Aperitif. Hier tobt der Bär und die Atmosphäre ist genial. Ein cooles Bistro, Café oder Restaurant am Anderen und glücklich ist wer irgendwo einen Platz ergattert.

If you follow the „Rue Bonaparte“ from the „Place Garibaldi“ down to the „Place du Pin“ you are in the best part of town for an aperitif. Here the bear rages and the atmosphere is awesome. A cool bistro, café or restaurant on the other side and happy is whoever gets a place somewhere.

La Gare du Sud

Auch am La Gare du Sud, dem ehemaligen Bahnhof von Nizza, der zu einer „Halle Gourmet“ umgebaut wurde kann man eine Pause zum essen einlegen. Ich denke aber, dass hier eher der Fastfood-lover glücklich wird (Ich berichtete hier darüber.)

Es mag ein schwerer Schlag für die „Generation ohne T-Shirt“ sein, aber in Nizza ist es nicht erlaubt, seinen hippen, im Fitnessstudio gestählten, voll-tätowierten Super-Body in der Stadt halb nackt zu präsentieren. Das gilt sowohl für Männlein als auch für Weiblein.
Und nackte fette Bierbäuche oder schwabbelige Bikini-Figuren will man schließlich weder beim Essen noch beim Bummeln in der Stadt vor die Nase geschoben bekommen 🙈🤷‍♀️.

Während dich in Monaco, Cannes oder Saint Tropez sofort und ich meine wirklich sofort eine Trillerpfeife schneller zur Ordnung ruft, als du dein T-Shirt ausgezogen hast, hängen in Nizza nun Schilder. Mit dem neuen Körperkult hat das überall Halbnackt-Rumlaufen in Nizza tatsächlich extrem zugenommen. Es ist an mancher Stelle wirklich etwas aufdringlich bis unangenehm.

Auf den Schildern wird in mehreren Sprachen darauf hingewiesen, dass man in der City bekleidet zu sein hat, übrigens auch auf Deutsch, was uns zu denken geben sollte. Bei Zuwiderhandlung werden Strafen bis zu 150,00 EUR angedroht.

Tja, liebe Frauen, wenn das kein Grund ist, sich mit den schönsten Tunikas und Kimonos einzudecken, denn die trägt man hier besonders gern, wenn es im Beach Club beispielsweise zu Tisch geht 🤩.

Was sich übrigens auch absolut nicht gehört: Sich in den Beach Clubs mit nassen Klamotten auf die tollen Sofas in die Loungebereiche zu setzen. Die Möbel bekommen zum einen Flecken und zum anderen hat der nächste Gast später einen nassen Hintern. Es ist mir vollkommen unverständlich, wie Touristen das als vollkommen normal empfinden und sich wundern, wenn sie vom Kellner aufgescheucht werden. In jedem Beach Club gibt es Umkleiden.

In diesem Post geht es nicht um Sehenswürdigkeiten oder klassische Ausflugstipps, sondern um ein paar Dinge, die ihr wissen solltet, wenn ihr nach Nizza beziehungsweise nach Frankreich reisen möchtet. Anreise nach Nizza: vom Flughafen in die Stadt

Der Flughafen von Nizza liegt nur etwa 7 km vom Stadtzentrum entfernt, weshalb Nizza eine ideale Destination für einen Kurztrip ist.

Mit der Straßenbahn: Günstige Anreisemöglichkeit

Die Straßenbahn ist die günstigste Möglichkeit, vom Flughafen in die Stadt zu gelangen. Das ist mein persönlicher Reisetipp für Nizza, wenn ihr die Stadt preiswert erkunden möchtet.

Die Tickets für die Straßenbahn in Nizza wurden inzwischen etwas angepasst. Es gibt verschiedene Tarife, unter anderem für Jugendliche, Senioren, Fahrten zum Flughafen, Park-and-Ride sowie Tageskarten. Da sich Preise und Angebote ändern können, schaut am besten direkt bei Lignes d’Azur nach.
Wichtig zu wissen: Die Fahrkarte ist inzwischen eine aufladbare Karte, die ihr am Automaten kaufen und später auch per App wieder aufladen könnt.

Außerdem könnt ihr ein Ticket für mehrere Personen nutzen. Wenn ihr beispielsweise zu dritt unterwegs seid, müsst ihr das Ticket dreimal entwerten. Wichtig: In Nizza muss das Ticket wirklich immer beim Einsteigen entwertet werden – auch beim Umsteigen und selbst dann, wenn ihr noch innerhalb der kostenfreien Umsteigezeit seid.

Mit einem Uber: Schnelle und günstige Alternative

ch liebe Uber. Schnell, zuverlässig und meistens deutlich günstiger als ein Taxi. Wer gerne Uber nutzt, kann das in Nizza problemlos tun. Insbesondere Fahrten zum Flughafen sind oft erheblich günstiger als mit einem klassischen Taxi.

Mit dem Taxi: Was du wissen solltest

Hier ist ein bisschen Vorsicht geboten. Taxis sind in Nizza ziemlich teuer und manche Fahrer sind leider nicht ganz ehrlich. Die Fahrt vom Flughafen bis in die Stadt kostet ungefähr 34,00 EUR.
Bevor ihr in das Taxi steigt, fragt nach dem Preis! Wenn der Fahrer mehr verlangt, sagt ihm, dass ihr wisst, dass der Preis maximal 35 EUR bis in die Stadt beträgt, und zwar inklusive Gepäck! Manche Fahrer versuchen beim Kassieren plötzlich mehr Geld zu verlangen, weil ihr ja Gepäck hattet. Dann droht mit der Polizei und verlangt eine Quittung!

Übrigens kann man in Nizza Taxis nicht einfach heranwinken. Das Chaos an der Promenade wäre unbeschreiblich. Es gibt Taxi-Haltestellen, an denen die Taxis stehen und mittlerweile gibt es auch die oben genannte Taxi-App.

Sicherheit und Kriminalität: So schützt ihr eure Wertsachen

Generell hat Frankreich eine höhere Kriminalitätsrate als Deutschland, gilt aber trotzdem als ein sicheres Reiseland, nur auf eure Habseligkeiten müsst ihr stärker achten. Touristen ziehen eben Diebe an. Die allgemeine Rufnummer für jeden Notfall in Frankreich lautet: 112. Weitere Notrufnummern und ein paar Tipps der Polizei könnt ihr auf dieser Website nachlesen.

Wichtige Sicherheitstipps für Nizza

• Niemals Gepäck und Wertgegenstände im Auto lassen und schon gar nicht sichtbar! Scheiben sind schnell eingeschlagen, auch an der belebten Promenade. Parkhäuser sind zwar bewacht und videoüberwacht, aber auch in Parkhäusern wäre ich vorsichtig mit Gepäck im Auto.
• Handtaschen und Rucksäcke gehören in Cafés und Restaurants NIEMALS auf den Stuhl gegenüber, über die Stuhllehne gehängt oder unter den Tisch. Hier sind Profis am Werk.
• Auch Handys auf dem Tisch in Straßenrestaurants sind beliebte Diebstahl-Objekte.
• Ebenfalls sollen einem Handys in der Straßenbahn oder an der Straße schon mal aus der Hand gerissen werden.
• Außerdem wird nachts schon mal über einen Balkon eingebrochen oder ein Fahrrad entwendet auch in einer dritten Etage. Checkt ab, ob man euer Appartement irgendwie erklimmen kann.
• Nehmt keine Wertsachen mit zum Strand oder lasst eure Taschen unbeaufsichtigt!

Parken in Nizza: Tipps und Wichtige Hinweise

Nizza ist im Sommer voll und Parkplätze sind rar. Ein weiterer nützlicher Reisetipp für Nizza meinerseits für den deutschen Touristen und sein heiliges Auto, ist in einem bewachten Parkhaus zu parken.

Wo Du sicher parken kannst

Viele Parkhäuser sind bewacht, 24 Stunden am Tag geöffnet und es gibt es sogar Dauertickets, die man am Schalter kaufen kann. Mit diesen Tickets hat man zwar keinen eigenen Parkplatz, kann aber rein-und rausfahren, wie man möchte.
Zudem kann man in einigen Parkhäusern Tickets im Voraus buchen.

Worauf Du beim parken noch achten solltest

Parkgebühren an der Straße kann man oft mit der „Pay by Phone“ App bezahlen, die wir ja auch in Deutschland nutzen.
Vorsicht auf den gelb mit „Livraison“ gekennzeichneten Flächen. Zwischen 04:00 und 12:00 Uhr ist das Parken auf den Livraison-Flächen verboten. Danach kann man auf diesen Parkplätzen parken, muss aber die geltenden Parkgebühren entrichten. Insbesondere gegen 04:00 Uhr morgens sind die Abschleppdienste unterwegs und räumen die Livraison-Parkplätze in der ganzen Stadt. Ihr solltet also euer Auto keinesfalls über Nacht auf so einem Parkplatz stehen lassen.

Was Tun, wenn Dein Auto abgeschleppt wurde?

Fahrzeuge, die in Nizza im Auftrag der Polizei abgeschleppt wurden, werden in der „Fourrière de Nice“ aufbewahrt. Diese befindet sich in Nice-Ouest in der Nähe des Flughafens. Auf der mehrsprachigen Website der „Fourrière de Nice“ könnt ihr das Kennzeichen eures Fahrzeugs eingeben und überprüfen, ob das Auto abgeschleppt wurde und sich tatsächlich dort befindet. Auf der Website findet ihr auch die Preise und was ihr benötigt, um euer Auto auszulösen.
Ihr könnt dann direkt dorthin fahren und euch euer Auto zurückholen.

Arztbesuch in Nizza: Was du wissen solltest

Wenn ihr einen Arzt in Nizza benötigt, empfehle ich euch das „C/7 Centre de Soins“. Es gibt allein in Nizza vier Stationen dieser Arztpraxen, in die man ohne Termin gehen kann. Die Arztpraxen in Nizza sind von 8:30 bis 22:00 Uhr geöffnet, und die Ärzte sprechen englisch. Die Mittagszeit hat sich übrigens in Sachen kurze Wartezeit bewährt. Die Arztkonsultation müsst ihr bezahlen (ca. 50 EUR), aber ihr bekommt eine Rechnung, die ihr bei eurer Auslandskrankenversicherung einreichen könnt. Außerdem könnt ihr Spezialisten über „Doctolib“ finden und Onlinetermine vereinbaren.

Dress Code in Nizza: Was du wissen solltest

Bekleidet! Recht neu sind die Schilder in der Stadt, die darauf hinweisen, dass es auch in Nizza innerhalb der City verboten ist, nur Badebekleidung zu tragen. Auch in Restaurants und Supermärkten ist nur Badekleidung nicht erlaubt. Dies ist übrigens ein wichtiger Travel Tip für Nizza und ganz Frankreich. (Ich berichtete in diesem Post.)

Es ist wichtig zu wissen, dass Nizza strenge Regeln bezüglich der Bekleidung hat, besonders in Restaurants und Supermärkten. Hier gilt der Dress Code strikt, um ein angemessenes Erscheinungsbild zu wahren.

Sehenswürdigkeiten und Stadionbesuche

Für alle, die Sehenswürdigkeiten besuchen möchten, gibt es den French Riviera Pass für vergünstigte Tickets.

Besuch im Stadion: Beste Anreisemöglichkeiten

Wer im Stadion eine Veranstaltung besucht, sollte die Tram (Straßenbahn) oder den Bus nehmen. Parken und Verkehr sind beispielsweise zu Fußballspielen unbeschreiblich. Für Fußballspiele werden Sonder-Straßenbahnen oder Busse eingesetzt, die umsonst sind. Die Abfahrtszeiten findet ihr auf der Website vom OGC oder bei Lignes d’Azur.

Autobahngebühren: Bezahlung und Tipps für ganz Frankreich

Mein persönlicher Reisetipp für Frankreich ist die Bezahlung von Autobahngebühren mit Kredit- oder EC-Karte. Als Barzahler hält man den ganzen Verkehr auf.

Telepeage Badge: Schneller durch die Mautstationen

Man kann sich auch ein Telepeage Badge besorgen. Dann kann man die dafür reservierten Spuren nutzen und fährt einfach langsam durch die Terminals. Fertig. Es gibt Badges, die sind für Frankreich, Spanien, Italien und Portugal gültig.

Restaurantbesuche in Frankreich: Verhaltensregeln und Tipps

Wieder mein ganz persönlicher Reisetipp für Nizza: Reservieren, reservieren, reservieren! Niemals einfach in ein Restaurant gehen und sich unerlaubt an einen eingedeckten Tisch setzen, auch nicht für ein Foto. Niemals. Das sind die heiligen weißen Schäfchen der Kellner. In Bars und Cafés kann man es schon mal eher wagen, sich einfach an einen freien Tisch zu setzen. Ein paar Restaurant-Tipps für Nizza habe ich bereits in diesem Blogpost zusammengefasst.

Bekleidung im Restaurant: Was solltet ihr beachten?

Bekleiden! In Frankreich setzt man sich auch in einem Beachclub NICHT in Badebekleidung in ein Restaurant. In vielen Beachclubs und Lounges stehen sogar Schilder, die darauf hinweisen. Auch in der Stadt ist es verboten nur in Badebekleidung herumzulaufen. Es gibt sogar Schilder mit Androhung von Strafen bis zu 150,00 EUR bei Verstoß. Beachlife in Nizza: Wissenswertes über den Strand

Der Strand von Nizza ist ein Steinstrand, wer Badeschuhe besitzt, sollte sie unbedingt einpacken.
Außerdem sind die öffentlichen Strände von Nizza Nichtraucherstrände. Leider hält sich niemand daran und es liegen überall Zigarettenstummel herum. Mein Nizza-Reisetipp für Raucher: Nimm einen Taschenaschenbecher (Affiliate Link) mit an den Strand.

Strandbesuch mit Hund in Nizza: Das solltest du beachten

Während in den Beachclubs in Nizza Hunde erlaubt sind, müsst ihr ansonsten mit eurem Hund an den Hundestrand. Hunde sind im Winter am Strand zwar geduldet, im Sommer allerdings nicht, vielleicht noch ganz früh am Morgen bei Sonnenaufgang. Der Hundestrand, liegt ungefähr auf der Höhe „Hôpital Lenval“ (Das Krankenhaus an der Prom. mit den blauen Fensterscheiben.).

Feuerquallen: Was du wissen musst

Feuerquallen (Meduse): Wenn es heiß wird, gibt es auch Feuerquallen. Wie ihr euch verhalten müsst, wenn euch eine erwischt hat und die Feuerquallen-Warn-Website könnt ihr in diesem Post nachlesen.

Wasserflaschen Auffüllen: Die Grünen Pumpen in Nizza

In Nizza findet ihr an unzähligen Stellen diese grünen Pumpen, an denen ihr eure Wasserflaschen mit Trinkwasser auffüllen oder eurem Hund frisches Wasser geben könnt. Bei dem Wasser handelt es sich um kühles Trinkwasser. Hier und da gibt es auch Trinkwasser-Stationen. (Über die Pumpen berichtete ich übrigens bereits in diesem Post.)

In this post, I’m not talking about sightseeing or classic things to do, but rather about a few things you should know if you’re travelling to Nice or France in general. Here you’ll find my personal travel tips for Nice and France – practical little things that can actually be really helpful once you’re there.

Getting to Nice: From the Airport to the City

The Nice Airport is only about 7 km from the city center, making Nice an ideal destination for a short trip.

Taking the Tram: A Cheap Way to Get AroundThe tram is the cheapest way to get from the airport into the city and one of my personal travel tips for exploring Nice on a budget.

Ticket options for the tram in Nice have changed a little over time. There are now different fares for young people, seniors, airport transfers, park-and-ride tickets, and day passes. Since prices and ticket options can change, it’s best to check directly with Lignes d’Azur before your trip.

One important thing to know: tickets are now reloadable cards that you can buy at the ticket machines and later recharge via the app.

You can also use one ticket for multiple people. For example, if you are travelling as a group of three, the ticket needs to be validated three times. Important: in Nice, tickets really always need to be validated when entering the tram – even when changing lines and even if you are still within the free transfer time.

Taking an Uber: Quick and Affordable

I love Uber. It’s quick, reliable, and affordable. If you enjoy using Uber, you can do so wonderfully in Nice. It’s much cheaper than a taxi (around 17.00 EUR to the airport, and with a promo code, about 11.50 EUR).

Taking a Taxi: What You Should Know

A word of caution here. Taxis in Nice can be pretty expensive, and some drivers aren’t entirely honest. The ride from the airport to the city costs around 34.00 EUR.
Before you get into the taxi, ask for the price! If the driver asks for more, let them know you’re aware that the fare should be a maximum of 35 EUR to the city, including luggage! Some drivers try to charge extra when you pay because you had luggage. In that case, threaten to call the police and ask for a receipt!
When I need a taxi, I always book my taxis online with Taxi Nice, and I’ve never been disappointed: high-quality, clean cars, punctual pickups, super-friendly drivers, and the price is confirmed in advance.

By the way, in Nice, you can’t just hail a taxi on the street. The chaos on the Promenade would be unimaginable. There are taxi stands where taxis wait, and nowadays, you can also use the taxi app mentioned above.

Safety and Crime: How to Protect Your Belongings

France generally has a higher crime rate than Germany, but it’s still considered a safe travel destination. You just need to be more cautious with your belongings. Tourists are a magnet for thieves. The general emergency number for any situation in France is: 112. More Emergency numbers and some tips from the police can be found on this website

Important Safety Tips for Nice

• Never leave luggage and valuables in your car, especially not in plain sight! Windows can be smashed quickly, even on the busy Promenade. Parking garages are monitored and have video surveillance, but I’d still be cautious with luggage in the car.
• Handbags and backpacks should NEVER be left on the chair opposite, hung over the back of a chair, or under the table in cafes and restaurants. There are pros at work here.
• Phones left on tables in street restaurants are also popular targets for theft.
• Phones can also be snatched out of your hand on trams or on the street.
• Burglaries can happen at night, even on a third-floor balcony, or bikes can be stolen. Make sure your apartment is secure and not easily accessible.
• Don’t bring valuables to the beach or leave your bags unattended!

Parking in Nice: Tips and Important Information

Nice is packed in the summer, and parking is scarce. Another useful travel tip for Nice—especially for German tourists and their beloved cars—is to park in a secured parking garage.

Where You Can Park Safely

Many parking garages are monitored, open 24 hours a day, and some even offer long-term tickets you can buy at the counter. While you won’t have a reserved spot with these tickets, you can come and go as you please.
Additionally, you can book tickets in advance at some parking garages.

What to Watch Out for When Parking

You can often pay street parking fees with the “Pay by Phone” app, which is also used in Germany.
Be cautious with spaces marked “Livraison” in yellow. Parking is prohibited on these spaces from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM. After that, you can park there, but you still need to pay the applicable parking fees. Especially around 4:00 AM, towing services are out in full force, clearing the Livraison spaces all over the city. So, never leave your car overnight on one of these spaces.

What to Do if Your Car Gets Towed

Cars that are towed in Nice at the request of the police are taken to the “Fourrière de Nice.” This is located in Nice-Ouest near the airport. On the multilingual Fourrière de Nice website, you can enter your vehicle’s license plate number to check if your car was towed and if it’s actually there. The website also provides the fees and what you need to retrieve your car.
You can then head there directly and get your car back.

Visiting a Doctor in Nice: What You Need to Know

If you need a doctor in Nice, I recommend the “C/7 Centre de Soins„. There are four locations of these medical centersin Nice alone, where you can walk in without an appointment. These medical centers in Nice are open from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and the doctors speak English. By the way, midday tends to be the best time to avoid long waits. You’ll need to pay for the doctor’s consultation (around 50 EUR), but you’ll get a receipt that you can submit to your travel insurance. You can also find specialists through “Doctolib” and book online appointments.

Dress Code in Nice: What You Need to Know

Dress appropriately! New signs in the city indicate that even in Nice, it’s forbidden to wear just swimwear within the city center. Swimwear is also not allowed in restaurants and supermarkets. By the way, this is an important travel tip for Nice and all of France. (I’ve written about this in a previous post.)

It’s important to know that Nice has strict dress code rules, especially in restaurants and supermarkets. The dress code is strictly enforced to maintain an appropriate appearance.

Visiting the Stadium: The Best Ways to Get There

If you’re attending an event at the stadium, you should take the tram or bus. Parking and traffic can be chaotic during events like football games. Special trams or buses are available for football games and are free. You can find the departure times on the OGC website or at Lignes d’Azur.

Toll Fees: Payment and Tips for All of France

My personal travel tip for France is to pay toll fees with a credit or debit card. Paying cash will only hold up the traffic.

Telepeage Badge: Speed Through the Toll Stations

You can also get a Telepeage Badge. This allows you to use the reserved lanes and simply drive slowly through the terminals. Done. There are badges that work in France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal.

Eating Out in France: Etiquette and Tips

Here’s another one of my personal travel tips for Nice: reserve, reserve, reserve! Never just walk into a restaurant and sit at a set table, not even for a photo. Never. These are the holy little sheep of the waiters. In bars and cafes, you can be a bit bolder and just sit at an empty table. I’ve already shared a few restaurant tips for Nice in this blog post.

What You Should Wear in Restaurants

Dress appropriately! Even in a beach club in France, you don’t sit in a restaurant in swimwear. Many beach clubs and lounges even have signs reminding you of this. It’s also forbidden to walk around the city in just swimwear. There are even signs threatening fines of up to 150.00 EUR for violations. (I’ve already covered this in another blog post.)

Beachlife in Nice: What You Need to Know About the Beach

The beach in Nice is a pebble beach, so if you have water shoes, be sure to pack them. Also, Nice’s public beaches are technically non-smoking areas. Unfortunately, no one really follows that rule, and cigarette butts are scattered everywhere. My tip for smokers visiting Nice’s beaches: bring a pocket ashtray (affiliate link).

Visiting the Beach with Your Dog in Nice: What You Should Know

While dogs are allowed in the beach clubs in Nice, if you’re elsewhere, you’ll need to take your dog to the designated dog beach. Dogs are tolerated on the beach in winter, but not in summer—unless it’s very early in the morning at sunrise. The dog beach is located roughly near the Hôpital Lenval (the hospital with the blue windows on the Promenade).

Jellyfish (Medusa): When it gets hot, jellyfish also show up. You can find out what to do if you get stung and check the jellyfish warning website in this post.

Refilling Water Bottles: The Green Fountains in Nice

In Nice, you’ll find these green fountains all over the place where you can fill your water bottles with drinking water or give your dog some fresh water. The water is cool and drinkable. Here and there, you’ll also find drinking water stations. (I’ve written about the fountains in a previous post.)

Ich gestehe, ich würde niemals von mir behaupten, dass Shopping zu meinen Hobbys zählt und wenn ich ganz ehrlich bin, finde ich stundenlange Shopping-Touren sogar richtig grauenvoll. Die Kaffeepause gefällt mir daran meist am besten und wenn die Tour zu lange dauert, steige ich von Kaffee auf alkoholische Getränke um 🙈🤷‍♀️🤪.
Ganz anders verhält es sich allerdings, wenn es um Dekoläden beziehungsweise Interior-Shops geht. Da lasse ich keinen Shop aus, der mir vielversprechend erscheint.

In Nizza habe ich ein paar Lieblingsläden in denen ich, sofern ich da bin, regelmäßig fündig werde und vor ein paar Tagen habe ich noch einen weiteren kleinen Laden in der Altstadt entdeckt, in dem es einiges zu entdecken gibt.

Heute zeige ich euch ein paar Bilder aus meinen Lieblings-Interior-Shops, die quasi für jeden Touristen auf dem Weg liegen und in denen man durchaus auch ein tolles Mitbringsel entdecken kann.

I confess, I would never claim that shopping is one of my hobbies, and if I’m completely honest, I find hour-long shopping tours really horrible. I usually like the coffee break best, and if the tour lasts too long, I switch from coffee to alcoholic beverages 🙈🤷‍♀️🤪.

It’s a completely different story, however, when it comes to decor stores or interior stores. I don’t miss out on any store that seems promising to me.

In Nice I have a few favorite shops where I always find something when I’m in Nice, and just a few days ago I stumbled upon another little store in the old town that’s full of treasures waiting to be discovered.

Today I show you a few pictures from my favorite interior stores, which are virtually on the way for every tourist and where you can definitely discover a great souvenir.

Beachlife an der Côte d’Azur: Ein perfekter Start in den Tag, doch Vorsicht vor Feuerquallen

Gibt es etwas Herrlicheres, als einen heißen Sommertag am Strand zu verbringen und im Meer zu schwimmen?
Wenn ich in Nizza bin, gehe ich liebend gerne morgens sehr früh mit einem Kaffee zum Strand und kühle mich im Meer ab. Besser kann man tatsächlich nicht in den Tag starten.

Es gibt in Nizza nur eine kleine Tücke im Meer, über die man Bescheid wissen sollte, oder besser noch, gegen die man gewappnet sein sollte. Diese kleine Tücke ist glibberig, schwimmt im Wasser und kann heftige Schmerzen verursachen, wenn sie einen erwischt. In Frankreich heißt dieses glibberige Etwas Meduse, in Deutschland nennen wir sie Feuerquallen.

Je heißer es wird, desto höher ist am Mittelmeer die Feuerquallen-Gefahr. Die Feuerquallen treten dann in ganzen Schwärmen auf. An den Strandabschnitten, an denen die Rettungsschwimmer stationiert sind, findet man in Nizza an Tagen mit Feuerquallen-Alarm oft ein Hinweisschild, aber eben nur an jenen Abschnitten.
Besser kann man sich im Internet auf der Website meduse.acri.fr über den aktuellen Feuerquallen-Stand in Nizza beziehungsweise die Feuerquallenvorkommen informieren. Außerdem findet ihr auf der Website auch Links zu den Apps in den App-Stores.

Erste Hilfe bei einem Feuerquallenstich

Das solltest Du keinesfalls tun

• Auf keinen Fall die betroffenen Stellen weiterhin mit Wasser, insbesondere mit Süßwasser, behandeln. Damit macht ihr es nur schlimmer. Durch das Abspülen mit Wasser öffnen sich die Nesselzellen, die noch auf der Haut haften, und vergrößern den Schaden.

Das hilft gegen einen Feuerquallenstich

• Von den Rettungsschwimmern wird empfohlen, die auf der Haut verbliebenen Nesselzellen mit einer Plastikkarte abzuschieben oder mit Sand abzureiben. Danach wird reichlich Essig über die Stichstelle geschüttet. Hilfreich ist auch, Fenistilgel auf die Haut aufzutragen, wenn der Essig getrocknet ist. Wiederhole diese Prozedur stündlich.
• Eine weitere Möglichkeit, die Nesselzellen zu entfernen, kann Rasierschaum sein. Der Rasierschaum wird direkt, nachdem man gestochen wurde, auf die betroffenen Stellen aufgetragen und dann lässt man ihn trocknen. Dabei umschließt der Rasierschaum die auf der Haut verbliebenen Nesselzellen, und man kann die Reste gefahrlos abschieben. Danach Essig verwenden und Fenistilgel auftragen. Wiederhole diese Prozedur stündlich.

Das sollte dein Notfallset für den Strand enthalten

Am besten, man packt sich ein kleines Notfall-Set für den Strand, insbesondere wenn man mit Kindern unterwegs ist. Ich habe jedenfalls immer etwas dabei. Außerdem kann man sich an die Rettungskräfte am Strand wenden.

Das Notfallset sollte enthalten:

• Plastikkarte zum Entfernen der Nesselzellen (zum Beispiel eine abgelaufene Kreditkarte)
• Etwas Essig
• Fenistilgel
• Eventuell eine Mini-Rasierschaumflasche

Mögliche vorbeugende Maßnahme

Dies habe ich übrigens ganz neu entdeckt, und es könnte wirklich hilfreich sein: Sonnencreme mit Quallenschutz. Solche Sonnencremes können möglicherweise eine gute vorbeugende Maßnahme sein, auch wenn sie natürlich keinen hundertprozentigen Schutz bieten. Wenn sie aber vielleicht die Reaktion etwas lindern, ist es zumindest einen Versuch wert. Sonnencreme benutzt man ohnehin – oder sollte man zumindest 😂🙈.

Ich werde sie auf jeden Fall ausprobieren, denn ich habe ziemlichen Respekt vor Quallenstichen. Ich werde diese umweltfreundlichen Variante (Affiliate Link) ausprobieren.

Beach Life on the Côte d’Azur: The Perfect Start to Your Day, but Watch Out for Jellyfish

Is there anything better than spending a hot summer day at the beach and taking a dip in the sea? When I’m in Nice, I love heading to the beach very early in the morning with a coffee and taking a dip in the sea. Honestly, there’s no better way to start the day.

But in Nice is a little catch in the sea that you should know about—or better yet, be prepared for. This little catch is slimy, floats in the water, and can cause some serious pain if it gets you. In France, this slimy creature is called méduse, but in Germany, we know them as feuerquallen— or jellyfish.

The hotter it gets, the higher the risk of jellyfish in the Mediterranean. That’s when the fire jellyfish show up in entire swarms. At the beach sections where lifeguards are stationed, you’ll often see a warning sign in Nice on days when there’s a jellyfish alert—but only at those sections. It’s better to check online at meduse.acri.fr for the latest jellyfish status in Nice or to see where the jellyfish are hanging out. You can also find links to the apps in the app stores on the site.

What You Definitely Shouldn’t Do

• Whatever you do, don’t rinse the affected area with water, especially fresh water. That’ll just make it worse. Washing it off with water causes the stinging cells still stuck to your skin to open up, making the situation even more painful.

What Actually Helps

• The lifeguards are recommend scraping off the remaining stinging cells with a plastic card or rubbing them off with sand. Then, pour plenty of vinegar over the sting. It also helps to apply Fenistil gel to your skin once the vinegar has dried. Repeat this process every hour.
• Another option to remove the stinging cells is to use shaving cream. Apply the shaving cream directly after you’ve been stung, let it dry, and then the shaving cream will trap the stinging cells on your skin, allowing you to safely scrape them off. After that, apply vinegar and Fenistil gel. Repeat this process every hour.

What Your Beach Emergency Kit Should Include

It’s a good idea to pack a small emergency kit for the beach, especially if you’re with kids. I always have one with me. And of course, you can also ask the lifeguards at the beach for help.

Your emergency kit should include:

• A plastic card for scraping off the stinging cells (like an expired credit card)
• Some vinegar
• Fenistil gel
• Maybe a mini can of shaving cream

Possible preventive measure

I actually just discovered this, and it could be really helpful: sunscreen with jellyfish protection. These kinds of sunscreens might be a good preventive measure, even though they obviously don’t offer 100% protection. But if they can at least help reduce the reaction a bit, it’s probably worth a try. You use sunscreen anyway – or at least you should 😂🙈.

I’m definitely going to try it, because I have quite a bit of respect for jellyfish stings. I’ll be trying this environmentally friendly option (affiliate link).

Dieser Post ist ein kleiner persönlicher Abschied von einem meiner Lieblings-Foto-Objekte in der Bucht von Nizza. Der Ponton de Lido gehört nun der Vergangenheit an. Ich habe vermutlich schon 500.378 Fotos und Videos davon gemacht. Fotos wie: Ponton bei Sonnenschein, Ponton bei Sturm oder Ponton bei untergehender Sonne und so weiter und so fort.
Ich konnte mir die Bucht der Engel (Baie de Anges) gar nicht ohne dieses verrostete Ding vorstellen. Und nun ist es weg.
Verrostet, genau das war wohl auch der Grund für das Ende dieses Pontons. Er war baufällig und wurde von Tauchern und Schwimmern oder vielmehr Springern im Sommer geliebt und deshalb auch als gefährlich eingestuft.

Ich habe gelesen, dass der Ponton einst als Bootsanleger gebaut worden war und nicht wie von vielen Menschen angenommen, ein Überrest des schwimmenden Palais Jetée Promenade Nice war.

Also good bye Ponton schön wars mit dir …

This post is a small personal farewell to one of my favourite photo objects in the Bay of Nice. The Ponton de Lido now belongs to the past. I have probably already taken 500.378 photos and videos of it. Photos like: Pontoon in sunshine, pontoon in a storm or pontoon at sunset and so on and so on.
I could not imagine the Bay of Angels (Baie de Anges) without this rusty thing. And now it is gone.
Rusty, that was probably the reason for the end of this pontoon. It was dilapidated and was loved by divers and swimmers, or rather jumpers in summer, and was therefore classified as dangerous.

I had read that the pontoon had once been built as a landing stage for boats and was not, as many people assumed, a remnant of the floating Palais Jetée Promenade Nice.

So goodbye pontoon it was nice with you …

Zuallererst muss ich mal erzählen, dass es in Frankreich keine Kaffee-und-Kuchen-Verabredungen gibt, wie wir sie in Deutschland kennen. Kaum zu glauben eigentlich, wenn man die Auswahl an süßen Köstlichkeiten in den Patisserien bedenkt. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass die Franzosen sie am liebsten als Dessert vernaschen. Das klassische Kaffeekränzchen ist den Franzosen also völlig fremd – das ist wohl eher so ein typisch deutsches Ding.

Kein Grund für mich, nicht trotzdem ein deutsches Kaffeepäuschen zu machen, wenn ich in Frankreich bin. Da eskaliert man auch schon mal in der Konditorei. Solch eine Konditorei ist für mich in Nizza die Patisserie „Canet„. Es gibt mehrere Filialen mit kleinen Cafés dabei und mittlerweile sogar eine Eisdiele.

First of all, I have to say that in France there are no coffee-and-cake get-togethers like we know them in Germany. Hard to believe really, when you think about the selection of sweet treats in the patisseries. I get the feeling the French prefer to enjoy them as dessert. The classic afternoon coffee and cake is completely foreign to them – that’s more of a German thing.

No reason for me not to have a little German-style coffee break when I’m in France. And sometimes that means going a bit overboard at the pastry shop. For me, in Nice that pastry shop is “Canet.” They have several locations with small cafés attached, and by now even an ice cream parlor.

Wenn ihr mal in Nizza oder Umgebung seid, solltet ihr euch den botanischen Garten von Èze anschauen, weil man von dort aus einen unglaublichen Ausblick hat und die kleinen Gassen des Dorfes einfach ganz wunderbar sind. Ich habe schon mal einen Blogpost über Èze geschrieben, allerdings hatte ich damals den botanischen Garten ausgelassen, weil er einfach zu überlaufen war.

Den botanischen Garten während der Mittagszeit zu besuchen, hat den Vorteil, dass weniger los ist, weil die Leute zu Mittag essen. Allerdings könnte es dann je nach Jahreszeit auch recht heiß sein. In dem Fall fängt dann wohl wieder mal der frühe Vogel den Wurm. Ist der Blick nicht atemberaubend?

f you ever find yourself in Nice or the surrounding area, you should definitely visit the botanical garden of Èze. From there you get an incredible view, and the little alleys of the village are simply wonderful. I once wrote a blog post about Èze, but at the time I left out the botanical garden because it was just too crowded.

Visiting the garden around lunchtime has the advantage that it’s less busy since most people are eating. Depending on the season though, it can also get quite hot. In that case, once again, the early bird catches the worm. Isn’t the view breathtaking?

Wenn es um Ausflüge rund um Nizza geht, wird dieses wunderschöne Dorf nicht im gleichen Atemzug mit Èze und Antibes genannt. Zu Unrecht, finde ich. Saint-Paul-de-Vence ist ein wunderschönes Bergdorf mit einem atemberaubenden Blick bis zum Meer. Es gibt tausend kleine Gassen, von denen eine schöner ist als die andere, und von der Stadtmauer aus hat man den bereits erwähnten atemberaubenden Blick.

Tatsächlich ist Saint-Paul-de-Vence aber als Künstlerdorf bekannt, und die Galerie-Dichte im Dorf ist auch ziemlich hoch. Kein Geringerer als Marc Chagall hat dort gelebt und wurde auch auf dem Friedhof beerdigt.

In dem Dorf selbst gibt es natürlich auch ein paar hübsche Restaurants und Geschäfte, die zum Geschenke- und Souvenir-Shopping einladen.

When it comes to excursions around Nice, this beautiful village is not usually mentioned in the same breath as Èze or Antibes. I think that’s unfair. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is a stunning hilltop village with breathtaking views all the way to the sea. There are countless little alleys, each more charming than the last, and from the city walls you get the same spectacular view.

In fact, Saint-Paul-de-Vence is best known as an artists’ village, and the density of galleries here is quite high. None other than Marc Chagall lived here and was also laid to rest in the local cemetery.

Of course, the village also has a few lovely restaurants and shops that are perfect for gift and souvenir shopping.

Seit einer Woche habe ich nun meine hübsche waterdrop-Flasche (Affiliate Link) und die praktischen kleinen waterdrops, und schon sind sie fester Bestandteil meiner Unternehmungen. Wie praktisch die Sache doch ist. (Über meine Erfahrungen mit dem waterdrop Microdrink habe ich hier schon einmal geschrieben.)

In Nizza kann es auch zu dieser Jahreszeit noch ganz schön heiß werden, und irgendwie ist man ständig durstig. Gegen Durst gibt es in Nizza – und auch in vielen anderen französischen Orten – etwas Geniales: kostenloses Trinkwasser aus Pumpen. Das Wasser ist einwandfrei und im Sommer so erfrischend. Die hübschen grünen Pumpen aus Gusseisen findet man an unzähligen Stellen in Nizza. Ich liebe diese Pumpen. Man kann seine Hände waschen, sein Gesicht abkühlen und seine Flasche auffüllen. Vermutlich retten sie die Stadt im Sommer vor dem Plastikflaschen-Müllkollaps.
Mit meinen kleinen waterdrops kann ich mir nun, wenn ich Lust habe, unterwegs sogar ein Getränk mit Geschmack machen. Ich finde waterdrop einfach genial. Ich kaufe in der Stadt nicht mal eben eine Limonade und schmeiße die Plastikflasche in den Müll, sondern fülle meine Flasche auf und werfe einen Microdrink-Würfel hinein.

Wusstet ihr, dass es in Deutschland auch eine Initiative für kostenloses Leitungswasser gibt? Sie heißt „Refill“. Ich habe die Website unter dem Post verlinkt.

Vorgestern erhielt ich unter anderem den Kommentar zu waterdrop: „Schon wieder so viel Plastik. Kann man nicht einfach ein Stück Apfel ins Wasser tun?“ Wenn man zu Hause ist, ist das Äpfelchen sicher eine gute Alternative. Das Geniale an waterdrop liegt für mich aber in der Einfachheit unterwegs.
Die Stewardess in der First Class schnippelt vielleicht noch ein Stück Apfel ins Wasser, wenn sie muss – aber wer reist schon First Class? Beim Wandern nehme ich jedenfalls kein Apfelscheibchen mit, sondern achte auf das Gewicht.
Campingurlaub ist auch so eine Geschichte. Wir haben in meiner Kindheit oft auf einem naturbelassenen Platz in Ungarn gecampt. Da gab es eine Pumpe – und das war’s. Nichts zu kaufen. Aus Platzgründen hatten wir immer ein Getränkepulver zum Anrühren dabei. Aus heutiger Sicht grauenhaft, aber damals war das die einzige Möglichkeit für Getränke mit Geschmack. Wie praktisch wären da ein paar waterdrops gewesen.

Ich nehme jetzt immer meine hübsche waterdrop-Flasche leer mit in die Stadt, fülle sie an einer Pumpe auf und werfe bei Bedarf einen Microdrink-Würfel hinein. So wie neulich bei meinem Ausflug auf den Schlosshügel von Nizza – mit dem großartigsten Blick über die Stadt.

PS: Zu Hause nutze ich übrigens inzwischen auch den Wasserfilter von waterdrop, über den ich hier schon einmal geschrieben habe.

For about a week now, I’ve been using my beautiful waterdrop bottle (affiliate link) and the practical little waterdrops, and they have already become a regular part of my daily activities. It’s surprisingly convenient. (I’ve already written more about my experience with waterdrop Microdrink here.)

Even at this time of year, it can still get quite hot in Nice, and somehow you’re constantly thirsty. But in Nice – and in many other places in France – there’s something truly great: free drinking water from public fountains. The water is perfectly clean and incredibly refreshing in summer. You can find these charming green cast-iron fountains all over the city. I love them. You can wash your hands, cool your face, and refill your bottle. They probably save the city from a plastic bottle waste overload during the summer.
With my little waterdrops, I can now even make a flavored drink on the go whenever I feel like it. I think waterdrop is simply brilliant. Instead of buying a lemonade in the city and throwing away the plastic bottle, I just refill my bottle and drop in a Microdrink cube.

Did you know that there is also an initiative in Germany for free tap water? It’s called “Refill.” I’ve linked the website below the post.

The other day, I received a comment about waterdrop: “So much plastic again. Why not just put a slice of apple in your water?” At home, that little apple slice is definitely a good alternative. But for me, what makes waterdrop so appealing is how simple it is when you’re out and about.
A first-class flight attendant might still slice an apple into your water if needed – but who actually travels first class? When I go hiking, I certainly don’t carry apple slices with me; I pay attention to weight.
Camping is another story. When I was a child, we often spent our summer holidays on a very simple campsite in Hungary. There was a water pump – and that was it. Nothing to buy. To save space, we always brought powdered drink mixes with us. From today’s perspective, pretty awful, but back then it was the only way to have flavored drinks. A few waterdrops would have been perfect in that situation.

Now I always take my waterdrop bottle with me into the city, refill it at a fountain, and add a Microdrink cube if I feel like it. Just like the other day on my walk up to Castle Hill in Nice – with the most incredible view over the city.
